I understand... Social situations and well intentioned friends... Nowadays... I would sometimes say that I am fasting, don't worry. Most of my friends know that I cleanse and fast routinely, they don't feel offended. I will tell them what I don't eat in advance or I will pot luck and bring along my food to share. Take more enzymes, it will break down the gluten faster. Eat more seaweed the iodine will repair the damage of gluten... That might last for 6 months.

  • Good advice, thanks ! I resisted the offers of bread & sweets barely. I am eating Kimchi & seaweed daily. I also increased my D 3 to 3000 . I hope to try a 24 hour fast soon ( am currently fasting 12 hours regularly)

Oh, chicken hearts, how do you like it? How did you cook it... Maybe I should ask where you procured it?

My mother butchered the live chickens when I was young, and all gizzards were save (including blood). I enjoyed the heart. I loved the chicken kidney the most.

    • I bought them at a Chinese grocery store. Cooked with garlic & ginger, they are pretty good. When I was a kid , we often had organ meat... tongue, brain & liver . I have tried gizzards, I didn’t like them but we like chicken livers .

Gilbert, the garlic and ginger sound delicious. Let me help you up your culinary game... add green onion or scallion in the ginger. There are a few ingredients in Cantonese food. Ginger is paired with green onion. Garlic is another by itself. Soy sauce (a little sugar), rice wine and garlic is the third. Soy sauce, a little sugar, a little rice wine, green onion and ginger and garlic would be the supreme sauce.

LOL. In that case, just don't do the chocolate, there are other yummy food. Filet Mignon with mushroom, onion, asparagus, all kind of vibrant color fruits and vegetables. Who needs chocolate when you can eat clarified butter with lobster. Poach eggs on top of any entree.

Bacon wrapped anything is a good meal, LOL.

Why does chocolate give you a headache? I do want to know. Maybe it is the brand that you are choosing.

I eat Theo Organic chocolate (Seattle company). There is no iffy ingredient in there. No soy lecithin or any funny thing that tastes like soap and gummy residues. I bought 12 bars on my birthday last week, LOL. I believe Whole Food puts it on sales for my birthday.

Happy belated birthday !Your foods sound wonderful! Chocolate is a tradition.
I get my darling any kind she desires, always! Actually the gluten I had a couple of weeks ago gave me a headache so I expect similar with sugar & dairy . I will check the Theo chocolate.
Do you think it would be alright to have a slice of birthday cake or ice cream cake ?

    • Gilbert, definitely ok for a treat if it is a once a year or twice a year thing. As long as it is occasional and not a whole cake. Just make sure you get the type that is not going to be offensive to your health. By all means, get the most decadent and expensive one with the best quality ingredients. If you are going to splurge, get the best quality one and get something that is not going to be hurtful to your body.

There are plenty of gluten free dairy free bakery around nowadays if you look around. Might even be able to get one ordered and made specifically for you. It is not going to be cheap, but with advanced planning, you will find one.

4 years ago, I got a girlfriend a baby shower cake that is gluten free, soy, and diary free (at first she wanted me to make one, and after thinking long and hard, I rather have a professional make it to avoid failure). She said it was delicious and the best she had tasted. I got the rest of the guest regular cake. Yup, like the topper cake for her that is what she can eat. The rest of the guest with similar cake but traditional gluten and dairy. She has endometriosis, she had to be completely gluten free, dairy free, soy free to be healthy enough to carry a baby (even the baby was IVF).

Alternatively, you need to learn how to make things from scratch and with the ingredients that is okay with you, but that is just going to be a lot of tasting, and trial and errors, at the end, having something make it is better to cut the sugar and treats out.

Excellent ideas , I didn’t know they had dairy & gluten free cakes! Definitely going to try one , sometime. I am actually enjoying the protocol .

    • Gilbert, you know what, Northmom has been making and tweaking recipes for gluten free and dairy free treats and birthday specialites. If you can figure all that your are allergic and sensitive to, she probably can tell you what you can make so that you can for you and your sweetie.

I make a decadent chia chocolate pudding. It does have sugar in it, but the primary ingredient was real good chocolate with sugar (European drinking chocolate from Trader Joes), coconut milk (from a can, that is organic and full fat and no filler ingredient that is not coconut or water), chia seed. Put them in a jar and stir then shake, then in the fridge it goes for overnight. Voila, good and decadent chocolate pudding.

Figure out if you are allergic to dairy, as full fat cream and butter is key ingredients for chocolate ganache and chocolate truffles that you can make. Get the best chocolate chip without iffy stuff (chocolate butter mostly), butter and full fat cream, melt and stir. Cool and roll. I add orange oil, as I like orange chocolate. You can add peppermint or coffee or almond (extract or liquor or the nuts) to jazz up the chocolate truffle or ganache.

Sounds delicious but I am not much of a cook . Don’t have much experience & less confidence! I will find out on Valentines Day if regular chocolate is OK .
Thanks for all the help, it’s really appreciate!

    • We had some chocolate ( 2 ) and some rice pudding! Found I could have made the rice pudding dairy free . We were at a all you can eat Chinese buffet, ladies choice. Did really well , no gluten, little dairy & sugar but ate way too much!
Happy Valentines Day everyone !!! Will do better, no special events for a month , lots of time to find dairy & gluten free cake with little sugar. ( or make gluten & dairy free rice pudding or chia pudding ). Only slight headache.
