  • Want to REALLY feel your deltoids burn? Try Broom with an imaginary broom.

When I hold an actual broom I have a really hard time releasing my traps and getting my lats to do the bulk of the work. I think it's because I'm tall and have long arms, maybe? I'm not sure. If I do use a broom I have to have one hand all the way out on the bristles which is annoying. I gave up on Broom for awhile but, last summer, I tried something and it worked. I do Broom with an IMAGINARY broom in my hands. I pull outward on this imaginary broom, just like if I was holding the broom. I am able to have my hands in my personal sweet spot where my lats are engaged and my traps are balanced. And WOW do my deltoids burn! By the end of the 11 minute digital workout I am begging for it to stop!

Try it and let me know if you feel it, too. I'm curious if it's just me.

Also, I am starting to have shapely arms for the first time in my LIFE. Even when I was younger and "just thin" all the time, and fairly active with running and workouts, my arms were not shapely. It's exciting to see it happen without weights!

Cool A-Ha moment! I can imagine how the long arms posed a challenge. Congrats on figuring this out.

Definitely will give this a try, I have 'bulky' arms and I too struggle to get definition .

CLARIKATANNER I really think that doing this has helped my arms a lot. Also, PPW 15. And keeping a powerful mitten scoop or bear claw during hoe downs. I finally am getting seem m arm definition after a lifetime of none. I do Amy's Arms sometimes, too, but not as often as I'd like. Mostly because I forget about them.

Lisa, I will think about this when I start doing the Broom workouts.

I'm short with short arms so a regular broom works well for me, but your experience sounds really interesting. It also reminds me a bit of Aurora's descriptions of using a stretched-out towel instead of a broom.
