Hi Ozzy, I wanted to clarify that I DO NOT have diabetic issues. I have diet issues meaning I put the wrong foods in my mouth LOL but I am working on that

AYJ was posting websites to read for clarification about some misconceptions regarding certain food intake and how it effects diabetes.

Together, we can work through anything, that is why we are all here!

thank you so much for everyone input. i have been to 5 dietitians in the past few years from regular to homeopathic unfortunately my issues are due to the cancer and surgery needed to get it out. the consensuses was to blend all my food and drink it because my stomach doesn't digest food even with probiotics. who can drink everything they eat???carbs although bad for me are the easiest to eat and not suffer horrible pain. red meat out of the question, raw veggies never, I thought you could lose without diet not true ?? what about my workouts am i doing enough??alisa seems to have added her diabetic issues i am not as concerned with them when i eat 3 times a day exercise a little everyday and drink my canary milk my sugar is in line i just want to feel better in my muscles shrink my waist maybe get stronger as i age. i did hear hoedowns helped sugar levels decrease and i haven't notice that. i did find after a workout my sugar increase oh well

@AnnaLee I am an extremist to a point so I usually just have to say NO!! And stop all the madness, deal with the effects for a few weeks then I am good. Once I am off them for a few weeks I am usually pretty easy to resist. The problem lately is that I want them, I like them, I don't want to be without them LOL

If detox challenges stress you then do not call them that. Just say I am eliminating sugar. Once you are good with that try to eliminate bread products, unless you like them then just be more moderate. My MIL loves bread, has it at dinner almost every day. She will never eliminate it. Lucky for me, bread makes me feel bloated so I tend to feel better not eating it. I can eliminate bread before I can eliminate a cookie or muffin.

Refer to our holiday challenge as a Holiday Accountability Check-In group...reword it for your mind so you don't feel stressed.

Ok, that is just my thoughts on the subject LOL

Me three, not dreaming of size 6 though. I am a 12 (I lost 1 size thanks to T-tapp) well-built, 5'74 and may never lose more inches. *But* I have never felt so well in a very long time. Alisa, we have been discussing the snack issue. I wish so much for 2019 that there will be changes in that area, but I have no clue how!!! I am almost sure that "only" leaving out those snacks would help me losing those 5 lbs...But I am so tired of challenges, that I know that I won't do that again. I must have started a dozen of those no-bad-snack-detoxes....Tragi-comic!

I agree with GreenGem. Thanks to your reply in my "lymph moving" thread, I was reminded that T-tapp moving is efficient when I don't overdo, don't force myself when I am too tired. Yesterday, I woke up exhausted, I could do my morning moves, but doing anything else felt overwhelming. So, I had a 2nd lighter day and it was totally fine. Today, I am feeling much better and will be able to do something doable for how I am feeling. We do find the balance as we learn the workouts and their "different help" for us as individuals so to say.

I am cursed or gifted with a palette that hates artificial sugar or sugar substitutes. I can taste diet soda and stevia. I use real sugar, honey, maple syrup, etc. Just a lot less and sparingly. I trained my taste-buds to have no sugar. Unsalted nuts is sweet to me... So, I do not use stevia either. I heard the only safe one is the real stevia leaf as in dried or fresh herbs.

If I were diabetic and needed to use sugar or sweetener, I will use Whey Low. Yes, I am that nerdy, I tried all kind of sugar substitutes for my mother's sake. Funny thing, she did not object to sugar substitutes.

However, the better way to deal with sugar is really to make sure the sweet item is just a small bite and the primary food is savory and vegetables. Vegetables are sweet, and I am not even talking about fruit.

Ozzy, read Jason Fung's books. He is a Canadian MD trained in US. He is a kidney specialist dealing mostly with complicated issues because of diabetes. You can also look into the pancreas formula by Dr Christopher, the formula includes Cedar Berries.

ayj67 Thank you for the links. I am going to look at them tonight. I have heard that before about artificial sweetener that your brain doesn't know the difference and reacts in the same way whether sugar or artificial sugar or honey. However, I have read that stevia is the only one that is true natural and different...Do you believe this?

ozzy Listen to ayj67 and forget what I said about grazing

Alisa and Ozzy, these are for you to research further...

    https://medicalxpress.com/news/2018-...-diabetic.html

    https://medicalcitylewisville.com/hl...age.language=1

Basically, you cannot cheat your body out by using pretend sugar, even the blood sugar is not raised, but the insulin started pumping even more when the brain registered sweet/food. If food does not come, then the body pumped more insulin, and the pancreas overworked and insulin resistance occur. Insulin is a bulking up hormone, the more insulin your execret, the bigger you are. Kids need insulin to grow big. So, I do not put my kids in low carb, but they get health carbs.

The blood sugar and insulin high and low are two different thing. We cannot think moderate blood sugar is the same as moderate insulin. Insulin is release at the thought and sights of food even the blood sugar is not affected. Because of that, it is better that you have higher fat in diet with carb that you will not need to eat very frequently to give the pancreas some rest... Grazing and constantly eating in low calories is actually making Type II diabetes worse off. Australia seems to be a country that is more advanced in figuring out the insulin index. Using glycemic index as your guide to eat is not really that good.

ayj67 so interesting about the diet soda. Makes me wonder if that is the root cause of blindness in diabetics rather than the diabetes itself??
