Looking at my shoulders, in the area where my bra strap is, there is there is sort of a dip and then a scoop upward to a slight point of bone. I guess I don't normally study my shoulders so maybe it's been that way for ages and I am only noticing it now, or maybe this is becoming more pronounced as I try to get more mobility out of my shoulders. To me, it feels like there is more bone there than should be. Sort of an extra knobby bit of bone perhaps.

I suppose since I am overdue to go to the doctor for a general check-up, pap smear etc. I should make an appointment. I avoid doctors like the plague and haven't been in probably three years. Even if there is something odd about the bones in my shoulder, which might explain why I can't raise my hands over my head, I sure don't know what they could do about it anyway. Sigh.

I defintely have a dip and then a scoop. I actually think it has become a little LESS pronounced now that I'm building a bit more muscle in that area, though. It used to be deeper on the left side, I always figured maybe from carrying a purse and heavy bags?

Mine is a bit more pronounced on the left side, although oddly enough it's my right arm that I can raise the least far. When I feel of the bump part, it's probably at least the size of a quarter in diameter.

I broke down and called the doctor's office today. I should mention to them this shoulder issue and have them set my mind at rest that it is, or is not, a major issue. Maybe they can tell me whether the inabilty to raise my hands over my head is a muscle problem or a bone/spine problem. At least I'd know what I'm dealing with. Also I'll discuss my difficulty with opening my hips up at the groin (hope I can open far enough for the pap smear). I figured I hadn't been in about three years so I should go for a general check-up and pap smear. They said I was last there in 2007. OOOPS, guess it was longer than I thought. I have since been through menopause (uneventfully).

I'll be thinking of you.. I hate to go to Dr.'s too. I do hope you gain the knowledge you are seeking.

I have that dip on both sides, but my girls are double Ds on a 34 inch ribcage. My bra straps have, over the past 40 years, worn those grooves into my shoulders.

Demeris, my dimensions are similar to yours. Maybe there is nothing wrong with my shoulders after all. It's strange that I have never noticed what now strikes me as odd bone structure. I Guess I'll have to wait till my Dr. apt on the 18th to find out if there is any correlation between my bad shoulder mobility and the bumpy shoulders.

I always thought this is just the way I am made. Why do some people have knobby knees and others don't? I thought it was something like that.

My knees are large, probably from 35 years of running
