    Default Measuring while tight

My first week of Boot Camp completed (I'm doing a 14 day camp) and I've already lost a combined total of 7-1/2"!! However, the measurements were NOT taken in T-Tapp stance with muscles tightened. But I'm still mightily encouraged by the results!

My question; Should I continue measuring this way or switch now to the proper form and move foward from there?

I'm loving the definition I'm already seeing and feeling and have my sister and best friend T-Tapping too!

Whatever way you measure, just consistently do it that way. It was hard for me to measure in T-Tapp stance by myself, so I measured without really activating muscles much.

    HTH!

And WOO-HOO on the inch loss!

That is awesome news! This is my second day of T-Tapping and I also plan on the 14 day bootcamp. Congratulations!

Thanks for the encouragement, Trisch. I wasn't able to complete a 14 day, but I did get a 10 day boot camp in so that's cool. I measured both ways today (day 15) and actually had overall inch GAIN. I'm still at an overall loss, but that was a little disheartening. Does that happen occasionally?

10 days is still AWESOME! So WTG for that!

Now, how long has it been since you ended your bootcamp?

And, where did you see inch gain--in what areas?

    Abbie,
I gained 1" in my upper thighs, 1/2" R. calf, 1" L. calf, 1" R arm, 1/2" L arm. I saw the most loss in my lower thighs. Does that give you any clues?

Okay, what I'm thinking is you didn't keep you thighs tight during Plies and Lunges. If you allow them to become inactivated during Plies and Lunges, you'll creat larger thighs. So really focus on keeping them activated--especially at the top of plies.

That's my .02...oh, and your arms probably were inactivated also....leading to bigger arms. The thing to remember is to keep EVERYTHING tight tight tight!

Shoulder/hip alignment can also affect those areas--ribs up helps inch loss in abs, arms and thighs! But it's easy at the beginning to not be able to focus on so many things at once!

Abbie is right--not keeping thighs tight all the way to the top can cause that as well. Were you doing BWO+? If so, try staying stationary on the Plies, not going up and down. Sink your heels into the floor to help keep activation.

As for shoulder/hip alignment, here are Michelle's excellent tips:

And Kayla's got a great video on ribs up:

Lastly, if you measured right away, it might be due to muscle swelling.

What is your schedule for now? And what workout(s) are you doing?

Saw you were doing BWO+ on your other thread, so answered there, too!

Total activation. thanks, again, ladies! You're probably right. I tap with my sister and sometimes we get distracted so I'm not focusing like I should. I've actually thought about going back to Inst.1 a couple times to better focus on alignment and activation. I'll keep at it!!
