Over the Spring I read this book called Organized Simplicity, by Tsh Oxenrider. It is not about what you own... but living with what you love. Very thought provoking. Pack rats beware!

Geezmarie, that looks like a place from another planet compared to my little house. Living with just one male, DH, Mr. BOWC, it's a challenge just keeping the health inspector at bay. You know, clean enough to be healthy, messy enough to be happy.

Don't worry. I have years and years of stuff I'm trying to get rid of. I needed the kick in the pants, errrr, motivation!

Well, I'm glad you were motivated, Elizabeth!!! I looked and couldn't find much to get excited about. I LOVE the idea of the baskets with the phone, keys, etc when someone walks in the door but I have babies in this house would pull them down. Plus, everyone living in the the house comes in through the garage, through the school room which has no place for a nice stand like that, right into the kitchen where counters are full of food prep, dishes to be washed, table full of school stuff.

I still want to eliminate so we can actually HAVE places for our "stuff", though. A work in progress!

I showed it to dh and he says he doesn't want to live out of a box! LOL! (And HE is the organized one in our home!)

There are some good ideas there to take away and maybe create some of your own. (As I sit here with a totally cluttered desk! )

I'd have to rebuild my house to do that....I think it also violates the natural laws of homeschooling -- and I only have two kids left at home now! LOL

Seriously, though, I spent some serious time with The House That Cleans Itself by Mindy Starns Clark this summer, and my house is easier to keep clean than it was. Need to spend some more time with it, but it's practical and gives you a different way to look at your house and where things "live" to lighten the load.

Moyne, just read the free preview from Amazon. Looks like a GREAT BOOK! Thanks for mentioning it.
