Default I Need A Kick In The Pants!!

You heard it ladies.......I need a HARD kick in the patootie!

I just.can.not.get.motivated.to.workout. I don't knw what is going on with me! I always find time for something else instead of working out. I am really getting tired of not being consistent--but I just can't seem to get on the bandwagon again!

Can someone please kick some motivation/sense into me??

Would it help if you got some new workout clothes? I love getting some cute new duds to move in. Are you motivated by treating yourself to something with a certain number of workouts accomplished? How about putting it on your daily planner, make it an appointment that can't be broken. If you plan five workouts you can give yourself permission to miss one in case something big comes up, but tell yourself the other four are happening!

We all need time away from things. Not that t-tapp is monotonous but I think we all need breaks from T-Tapp as well. As long as you get back to it!

How about picturing yourself when you don't a WO. Day after day, week after week. Month after month. What shape would you be in then?

Can you get a picture in your head of that? Is it a pretty sight?! Do you really want to go there?!

OK, so if you don't want to be that person just put on your WO shoes. Just for one little move.

OK, now that wasn't so bad was it? How about another little bit? Come on, you've got your shoes on right? Come on, 5 more minutes just for you. You can take that time. Yeah you don't want to do this but you've got your shoes on and doesn't it feel nice to do something good for you?!

Set up a schedule. Make yourself do something T-Tapp for at least 5 minutes every day for one week. Next week, make it 10 minutes with a day off. The following week, make it 15 minutes! Before long your body is craving T-Tapp again and you have strengthened that habit!

OK, if that doesn't work then what about us?! We count on you for inspiration and challenges! Hey, have you done your TTT-DD today?!
Not to put the pressure on you but whatever it takes...!

Abbie, I think we have all been there. Give yourself permission to take this time off but give yourself a deadline. A firm one and stick to it. Remember how excited you were when you first began T-Tapp? Find what motivated you then and get it going again!

    Good luck!

    Abbie,

You may or may not remember that I felt just this way in May before my trip to Vegas. For some reason I hit the wall. I took a week off while away, except for PBS, TTT Stretch and HDs. When I got back home I was ready to get back on the wagon. Like Sharon said, take a break, with a deadline to get back to it.

You have been T-Tapping for about a year and a half. I suppose you'll have peaks and valleys in that span of time in both motivation and visible progress, but girl, you have shrunk 51"!!!! That's phenomenal! You know this works and you are not wasting your time. 15-20 minutes is SO LITTLE TIME for those kind of results. Have you ever watched The Biggest Loser? Those poor dears are eating about 1500 calories a day, working out 4-6 hours a DAY! All while being shouted at and competing with back stabbing team mates. Then there are the regular gym rat sorts who spend hours per week on treadmills and lifting weights et. They spend longer DRIVING TO THE GYM than you spend per day Tapping. You forget how EASY you have it for the degree of results you're getting.

So there you go, a kick in the pattotie! Please return the favor if and when I need it!

I also wonder if the changes your body is going through since seeing the endocrinologist could be a part of it.

I think you need to "do a Chi" and focus on the Terrific Three or Fab Four for awhile. You can even substitute her Floor Four or Five (I'd have to ask exactly what moves, but OIP, Half Frogs, Elevators, AL and maybe PT?)

And give yourself 2 days completely off for now.

That's my prescription! Sometimes we need a time of "pushing it" and others we need a "back off" time. You have permission to back off for now!

    HUGS!

So.... confessions along with a kick: Right before the 60 day challenge, I had done a 14 day bootcamp, then, three days later the challenge..crunch squeeek lurrrch! I stopped. I couldn't believe myself!! The first week of the challenge I didn't work out AT ALL... Then I got back to it but it was like my mind said "what are you doing? You are exhausted!! " But in spite of the stress at work physically taxing me down to the end of each day, I got back on tapping, and after asking for advice on this forum, backed it off to EOD and EOOD. I was focusing on the critique factor being in the Challenge, so I was oh so tuned in to my foibles and fumbles. My diet was stupid too. Couldn't get back on my GM MM cycle, too many bad carbs etc. So, I had to forgive myself.... admit I'm human and subject to inconsistency and weakness. But also to accept myself, with all of that, and love me for who I am. Know what? I think I can now identify with the whole thing.

Sometimes, I have to be a disciplinarian with myself and say, "Ok, Miss...if you don't get your shoes on and begin T-Tapp in the next 15 minutes, you will not (insert reward or pleasant activity here) today. I had to do that this morning. I was putting off BWO+. It's my MM day so I was going to indulge in an iced coffee and a couple hours' worth of writing at Starbucks (which I love doing). Finally, I had to be my own "mean mommy" and tell myself that if I didn't get off my duff, there would be no trip to Starbucks and no lovely iced coffee and no lovely writing. My sneakers were on and I was in the middle of PBS less than 5 minutes later.

The other thing I do when I'm procrastinating is I think about how BWO+ is only 15 minutes long. That's it. Fifteen minutes. And by doing those 15 minutes, tight clothes become loose, PMS is held at bay (and many innocent lives are also saved), back fat and hip pads get blasted straight into the hubs of h*ll where they belong, you can eat chocolate and pizza without doing damage to yourself, your thighs go down almost immediately (that's how it seems, anyway). The benefits far outweigh the illicit joy of skipping workouts.

Started T-Tapp in July 2010 after searching for a good strengthening/stretching/flexibility workout. I think I found it!
