    Default Any Suggestions

Hi! I'm not really new to ttapp, but I feel like I am. At the beginning of the year I tore my rotator cuff in two places and I also may have a bone cyst that's causing the bones on my shoulder and arm to rub together. It's been very painful, but finally I got a cortisone shot and am relieved of the pain. I am now at the point where, not only have I noticed the huge belly I've developed from the 6 months of inactivity, but because I'm not in constant pain, I feel like being active. The only problem is that I can't raise my right arm above shoulder height. I cannot put my hand on my waist (my shoulder locks up) and I can't even put my bra on by reaching my arms behind (LOL). I start PT in a couple of weeks and will likely have surgery. So the question is, can anyone recommend moves that will keep me limber and my tummy from getting any bigger? Thanks!!

Did your doctor say it is ok to exercise?

    Default Thanks

Yes, my doctor said I can exercise, but should not do anything that requires raising my arm. I can't anyway--the shoulder locks up and I can't get it past my chest!

I'm going to try the modifications suggested by Michelle. I've actually started doing a few moves using my arm as far as it will go without feeling pain and I'm optimistic. I think I'll try the beginners plus tomorrow with the modifications and see how it goes.

    THANKS!!
    Patricia

Remember that both arms should only go as far as the "bad" one can in order to keep a good balance. I think that just beginning to move with T-Tapp, even with no arm movements, will help over all because the lymphatic system will be moving, muscle strength will be gained which will help the bones, and lubrication will be taking place. If you are stepping, then stetch your fingers and then clench into a fist. You can do that and keep the hands down low. A gentle "thumbs away" will also active the arms without raising them higher then the shoulder.

Also, maybe do a few shoulder rolls throughout the day. Those should help loosen things up....

    Just a thought!
