Peggy, I am with you. I made kitchen sink meatloaf with all GM ingreidents. If there is no flour, no white bread (crumbs), not high in fat (10% fat type of beef), then mixing with bean, eggs, frozen spinach, steel cut oat, spice or sprouted grain, it can be a healthy GM meatloaf. I don't use ketchup. I might put some tomato paste (that has no sugar added and no artificial ingredient).

Sprouted bread was okay, because it was sprouted whole grains. Once it is sprouted, it is considered a vegetable on Teresa's book. Manna bread are whole grains and nuts with dried fruit. If that is GM, we too can modify our recipe with all GM ingredients.

I think it is more important that we cook our own food, we know all the ingredients are GM legal, then the form and shape or name of the item is not that important.

I think we need to bear in mind the concept behind Teresa's GM/MM foods. There are some on the MM food list that are truly God Made foods such as white potato, very sugary fruit like pineapple, pure meat fat etc. but Teresa has placed some GM foods into the MM category due to the fact that they are high calorie due to high fat or starch content. She is saying that for optimum health benefits you should avoid those foods on GM days and focus instead on lower calorie and lower glycemic index foods that are very nutrient dense. So it is a bit confusing to say something is not GM when in truth it is, but the point is that it is not always a "good for you" GM food.

That is part of the focus of my diet, the Primal Blueprint. Some foods have properties that make them harder to digest, especially without proper prep work, some are very inflammatory or tend to be mostly empty calories with very few nutrients. Those foods I don't eat at all, or very rarely, partly because they crowd out consumption of far better foods. This way of eating seems too restrictive to many people, but we feel we have never eaten better in our lives, and the benefits so far in our health far outweigh what we have given up.

Wow, this is such an amazing thread. I am learning so much from all of you!

I just saw a really basic recipe for raw tomato sauce from the Fine Cooking website. Basically you dice tomatoes into a bowl of pasta and add spices to your taste. Heat a little olive oil in a pan till very hot but not smoldering. Pour this over the tomatoes and pasta, toss and dinner is done.

Today is a GM day so I will replace the pasta with slightly cooked thin zucchini strips, add fresh herbs, the tomatoes and oil. Stir then add some freshly grated parmesan cheese. Hmm, maybe some olives as well?

I'm thinking I may need something else to make this dish a bit more hearty but I think dinner may be done!

Sharon that sounds so good , with that dish you wouldn't miss pasta at all on GM days-yum ! You could add turkey meatballs (a few)-I heard about using carrots as pasta also . I saw a post about it and the girl used three carrots as base ( I hope thats GM also ).. I ' doing good but I didn't make the third day on GM but I'm still gonna treat this as MM day and still have my pizza..

Last night was chicken ala king. I didn't put it on top of anything, just ate it plain with a side of vegetables. Diced chicken, mushrooms, green peppers, sour cream and heavy cream, chives, nutmeg, cayenne pepper, onions and a bit of sherry. Yum.

We're on the road doing a flea market today so took tins of sardines, salad, a few chunks of cheese, a few chunks of fresh coconut and two squares of dark chocolate. A couple times lately ladies have asked if I was eating sardines and said they liked them. I used to think they would be gross but they're a lot like tuna and super high in Omega 3s. I try to eat them once or twice a week.

Caught a segment of Dr. Oz today that reminded me of substituting spaghetti squash for pasta. Had hubby pick one up since I always have leftover pasta sauce and tomorrow is a MM day so I will enjoy. As someone said earlier on this thread all of the flavor is in the sauce not the pasta.

Had some other treats today, tex mex and small portions of desserts. The more I read here on the forums the less I have guilt about and anxiety about my food choices. I do love it that regardless of MM or GM I am more inclined to choose real foods.

I'm joining you guys! I just started Monday. I'm not sure exactly what to do. I have left out bread, white pastas and refined sugars. Not sure what else to omit. I'm doing this everyday by the way to lose weight!

    Nancy, you mean GM everyday?

Teresa's rule is not more than 4 GM days. Teresa think 1. we will lose our ability to process high GI carb 2. there will be a serious carb cravings.

The GM/MM pattern is, regular 2 GM/ 1 MM. If you have serious weight to lose, 4 GM/1 MM or 3 GM/1MM. The minimum is 1 GM/1MM.

High glycemic index and high animal fat food is for MM. So, white potato, corn, high sugar fruit and dried fruit, fatty meat and skin are MM. Of course, sugar, cookie, cake, pasta, candies are MM.

GM days are mild, leans and greens.

I find it unlikely the body would lose the ability to process high glycemic index foods. People use to tell me that once they had been vegetarians for years they lost the ability to digest meat. That apparently isn't true as I know a few vegans who have gone back to eating meat. As for carb cravings, maybe if you have one foot in either camp, you'll still have cravings, but I haven't eaten very starchy or sugary foods since January and I have zero cravings for them. Usually people struggle with cravings for a few weeks and then it's gone. I never had an issue with it even in the beginning but everyone is different.
