Glad the experts provided the correct information!

OK, first day of the challenge, a GM day and I think I blew it at lunch. Yogurt, (organic) with Bear Naked granola. I wasn't thinking GM when I dished it up but at least they both seem to be on the' better' side of MM. I guess this is a learning process.

Sharon, it is ok, only little things, I just chalk it to my second fruit serving of the day. My special adrenal kefir had sweeten vanilla yogurt. My trail mix of nuts had a few small piece of dried cranberry and dried cherries. It was kind of hot today, and I got some iced tea and realized it was sweetened, so I took only one sip and switch to making hot water for an iced passion flower tea.

I am not sure if green smoothie has to be no fruit, but definitely less fruit or less fruit juice is better. How to balance the minimal fruit with maximum green is an art (which you are willing to drink). Of course, it has to have some vegetables, but even pumkin, butternut squash and sweet potatoe is fine. You can try tomato, beets and carrot and orange for a orange red smoothie. I add frozen spinach with sweet potato, milk and kefir for my green smoothie today.

I will suggest you use leftover cooked goitrogen vegetables like kale, broccoli, brussels sprouts, etc. to green smoothie. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goitrogen

Off to an appointment this morning, running late. I reached for a TJ fig bar and stopped before I opened it. Picked it up without thinking. Although for a breakfast type bar I think the TJ fig bar isn't that bad I realized it's not a GM food. Funny how I'm already watching for the GM food. Sliced up an apple instead, put it in a bag along with some almonds and was quite content. Lunch will be a smoothie.

Sharon, I know what you mean about watching for GM food. I did a little grocery shopping yesterday to stock up on veggies, and I thought cottage cheese might be a good idea. Yeah, right. I couldn't believe all the chemical garbage that went into a tub of that stuff. Needless to say, I didn't buy it.

Yay! I'm on board for trying this. We've had so many birthday party's already this month, I'm feeling stuffed and bloated. GM/MM is perfect timing! I'm a Type A personality, so I may ask a few questions. My first is: how do I sweeten my green tea if I can't add honey. What else is considered GM for a sweetener? Thanks!

Ok I have posted more times today than I should but for today, I'm talkative! (I promise not to write about each meal tomorrow.)

Breakfast was good, apple and almonds, lunch was tuna with a cucumber salad. All GM. I had an emotional need for candy today and gave in. I had a handful of DOTS candy. I'm not too much of an emotional eater but this was stress eating at it's best or rather worse.

For dinner I sauteed in a large skillet/pan some very thinly sliced sweet potatoes in local butter. I added some local onions and 100% pure maple syrup ( a very little bit) and let it simmer. I added local garlic. A couple of minutes later I added tilapia fillets to the pan and covered until the fish was done on one side. I then added fresh spinach and covered till it was done. It was so delicious and I think pretty much all GM ingredients?

There is a local bread company that uses organic and local when possible ingredients for artisan bread. Thursday is 'bread day' for me so I also served the bread sliced and rubbed with the garlic clove, spread with the local butter and sprinkled with parmesan cheese. I warmed in in the oven. So that part probably wasn't so GM but I had just a small slice. And in order not to mask the flavor of the bread I used only a dab of butter and cheese.

Overall I guess I would give my attempt today at GM a 75-80%. I guess that's not too bad for a first day. I think the important thing is I see mistakes but it doesn't make me want to give up!

Hope everyone's day went well and again, I promise not to bore you with all my meals each day!

    Sharon
