Default Losing inches, and I haven't officially started yet!

Teresa's book arrived last Wednesday and I took my starting measurements on Thursday. I wasn't sure when I was supposed to take my first set of measurements. Should the benchmark set of measurements be the beginning of the week I start "Boot Camp?" If so, today's measurements should be the official starting point.

Here is my sequence of activities: Two weeks ago I started practicing with Teresa's online video clips. Last Wednesday I got the book and started trying a few exercises from the diagrams. Thursday I had my husband take my measurements. Friday afternoon the More DVD arrived and I attempted a few, but not all, of the exercises shown in the tutorial. This Monday a friend and I did the tutorial together for the first time. Last night I ran through the regular version of the More program just to see if I had a good enough handle on it to start Boot Camp officially today. This morning I had my husband remeasure me and here are the loss results in one week:

    1" off pecs
    1" off bust
    .5" off ribs
    1" off waist
    1.25" off abdomen
    .5" off upper right thigh
    .5" off upper left thigh
    .25" off lower right thigh
    .50" off lower left thigh
    .25" off left calf

    Total inches lost = 6.75"

I know Teresa doesn't want people to weigh themselves, but I have already been on an eating program called Primal Blueprint since January, and I am accustomed to weighing myself twice a week. Now and then I stall out and don't drop for a week or two, but typically I lose 2 pounds a week. Last week I lost 2.5 pounds. I am not sure if 2.5 pounds would equate to a 6.75" measurement loss, but I rather doubt it. I think my inch loss results are more to do with T-Tapp. I look forward to starting Boot Camp and more inch loss!

Welcome! Great work already! Keep it up! I wouldn't stress so much on measurements - you took some initial ones and it is fine, go from here. About the scale, it won't give you appropriate numbers just because you will make thicker bones and dense muscles. If you wish you may continue with the scale along with the tape but at some point you will see alone that there is no clear connection between them and you may want hide the scale away. In my case after almost 2 years of tapping I am not sure if I've lost more than 5-6 pounds ( I am still in size 10, but much looser) but I can say I see great muscle and stamina improvement as well as much better flexibility. If you see that you get depresed form what the scales says, do not hesitate to throw it that every moment. Here on the forum, you will see great stories about people who lost several sizes and so less weight (Trisch - blessedmama) is just on of them. The key is consistency - a small word with giant meaning!Stay around, ask questions and you will be on your way to better health, body and life!

    Welcome Miss Understood!

Congratulations on a great start. And a word to the wise. Stick with the Instructionals for at least 2 weeks (or longer if you can...). Even though you "know" the workout well enough to move on, it is extremely important to hold those positions while Teresa is talking. You are building NK flow and opening the connections between your brain and your muscles. Instructionals are so important that even those who have been tapping for years still go back and focus on them and learn more each time!

Don't be in a hurry to move to the "real" workout. Lots of us did that and were sorry for it later... Build a GREAT foundation and you will be amazed at your results.

    That's a great start!

And don't freak out if the scales go up a bit--you can gain 5-7 lbs. of spinal muscle density in the first few weeks or so of T-Tapp! I personally lost only 30 lbs. when I had lost 8 sizes! Then I went on to lose another size--and 20 lbs.! Go figure!

I understand for different reasons people need to weigh--just didn't want that to surprise you! Those are fat and glucose eating, metabolism-boosting muscles so we want them to increase!

I second Gergana's and cbuffy's advice! MORE has made up nearly half of my workouts over the past 5+ years--it's fantastic!

    Keep us posted!!!

Thanks for the advice. I will keep that in mind if I plateau or gain a little weight. I admit to being very enthusiastic and raring to go since I am the kind of person that doesn't do anything by halves! If I am interested in something I learn all about it and immerse myself. T-Tapp will probably be the same.

I had a weight loss goal by July 14th which is my birthday, and I am ten pounds "behind schedule." Don't worry, I am not obsessing over not meeting the goal because I have made very good progress in both the weight loss department and, more importantly, in lessening my hip pain and gaining mobility. Goals are a good thing if they don't make you frustrated or depressed. My further goal is to lose about 25 pounds and one or two sizes by mid November for our 15th anniversary. We're going back to Hawaii and I'd like to be as small or smaller than I was 15 years ago. I think it is a reasonable goal as I have been averaging 1 -2 pound weight loss per week since January and that was with doing NO exercise at all until about April when I was able to start taking some walks through the woods on our property a few times a week. Now, I have T-Tapp as well as walking and a very disciplined healthy diet, and that seems like a winning combination.

Welcome, Miss Understood! I am new around here, too, though I have been Tapping since November. I had been weighing myself everyday for eight months when I began T-Tapping since I was on a very low calorie/meat and veggie diet for four months (and lost forty pounds). But when I began T-Tapping, people warned me not to weigh so much because of muscle gain. I kept weighing quite a bit until I had gained six pounds during my first three months of T-Tapp--in spite of losing an entire size!!! So I quit weighing as much---and I lost most of that six pounds while still fitting into my newest size better, etc. as I continue to do with T-Tapp! Anyway, just don't be disouraged if you gain weight while starting to seriously Tapp--follow everyone's advice to use other benchmarks--especially the way clothing fits/clothing sizes.

    Keep up the good work!!!
