Default Foot/Leg Pain Identification & Help

A friend writes this on my local forum. Thoughts or suggestions for help? This doesn't sound like a typical case of plantar fasciatis, right?

If I remember correctly, this woman is aware of T-Tapp and might own some videos. Not sure if she is doing them or not...a little far from the area when I am doing training classes, or she would probably be there, so any specific tips would be appreciated, I'm sure. (I know the whole finger and foot fitness DVD in general could be a suggestion, but it would be nice to know if someone else has experienced this type of pain or could id it or mention specific moves that might help this condition.)

I’m not sure what is happening. I was walking this afternoon and I started getting stabbing pain in my foot (top of foot and near the arch) shooting up my leg to about my knee. It’s not in my calf muscle, more along the top and inside of my leg. It doesn’t feel like a cramp or Charlie horse, more like a knife running up it. I can walk a little, but after a while the pain comes back and I can’t step down on it at all. Could this just be a pinched nerve or something else needing observation?

    Dear Linda,
You are right, it does not sound like PF. It sounds like shin splints. These do not usually aggravate the heel area though.

The "knife running up it" statement makes me think she needs to seek professional help for this.

It is very easy to fracture the small bones of the foot. If she is a busy person, on her feet a lot, she best take care of this and not mess around.

Your a good friend to post this!

I remember someone having this pain, years ago.
Seems as if they determined it had to do with the way she laced her shoes. Maybe a nerve on the top of the foot combined with new shoes and a high arch?
It would be pretty peculiar if it was the same thing!
Good Luck to her figuring it out!

Do not be confused, I am NOT a trainer just someone who has been around for over 11 years and talks too much!

Hopefully one of the many Certified T-Tapp Trainers will be along shortly, with the most accurate information.
