    Hi BluelineBabe,

I think there is a natural balance of acidity there that kills bacteria, messing with it is not something that is good.

Is there a chronic condition? Yeast infection? UTI? If no, don't mess with it.

If there is a chronic condition, find out what it is. It might be better to clean up the diet and have way way less white carb. Regular yeast infection might be a sign of early Type II Diabetes. I heard vinegar douche is better...

Here, is a thread in Earth Clinic going over all natural remedy for douche. http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/bac....html#HPDOUCHE

I've heard since 6th or 7th grade (I'm 35 now) that douching with commercial douches is a really bad idea, so I've never done it in my life. I don't have any of those kinds of issues below the belt, thank goodness, but ever since it got warm, I have had armpits of death. It's mortifying. And being so big, I get warm really easily. I've been wondering if perhaps diet is a big culprit. I've started eating more fruit, but I still eat too much sugar and not enough vegetables. I'm not a big fan of white bread or pasta, so that's not a problem, nor do I care much for potato chips or snacky things. Except chocolate. Dear heaven, how I love chocolate. And I've been drinking a lot of coffee with half and half. I've had two sodas since March 20th, so soda isn't a problem, either. I'm really interested in the baking soda paste for the armpits.

Babe, you can also look into Magnesium oil, I heard that will kill the smell. You can also try coconut oil with baking soda on the arm pits. One more alternative, essential oil like Lavender, just it like perfume on the pits. It kills bacteria that your sweat and sugar your skin excrets (yes, if you have too much sugar, it will come out on the skin, there is why bacteria and yeast grow).

Coffee is phyto-estrogen.... Estrogen attracks insulin/fat... Drink more water and less coffee. Drinking more water to flush your system might help.

What about tea? I almost always drink decaf tea. Is that ok? I love it iced, too. Bigelow's Constant Comment decaf makes fabulous iced tea. I never sweeten it.

I know I have to drink more water. I like water, especially with fresh lemon juice in it. I think what's hard about water is having to actually discipline myself to drink it, and of course, remember to drink it. Plus, I don't like to have to visit the biffy all the time, even though I know that visiting the biffy is a desirable thing...

    I know...I'm nuts ;-)

Sorry I didn't get back to this thread until now!

I don't really measure but I would say I use about 1 TB per 1 - 1 1/2 cups of water. I actually have 2 cups, put some baking soda into each, then step into the shower. I just wet my fingers, dip into the soda and put that "paste" under my arms. Then I add a bit more water--not enough to make it totally dissolve, but kind of a runny paste, and I use some of that to massage into my scalp instead of shampoo. Then I dilute the rest and pour over my top half (little at a time--kind of a "controlled pour"!). I then dilute what's in the other cup and do the female area first, then my legs. I then rinse, and I use a natural soap to shave the armpits and legs. I don't lather a bunch up, just enough to help the razor glide. I have dds that just use water--I'm not that tough!

After rinsing the baking soda from my hair, I follow up with rinsing with diluted apple cider vinegar. My hair is soft and mostly tangle free (of course, my hair is really fine, but it actually used to be awful about tangling!).

    And that's it!

I noticed when I was drinking green smoothies my body odor was better. Also when I'm consistent with Teresa's alfalfa it's better. Try just adding some greens to your diet vs. worrying about cutting back something else.

Water with lemon is really, really good for you!

    HTH!
