    Question Mysterious pain in hand

Almost two weeks ago, I was doing push-ups and had pain in my hand from the pressure. The pain was located in my palm, below my thumb. Initially this pain only presented during direct pressure to this area. It has gradually increased to where it hurts when I lift anything, and sometimes when I am not even using the hand--changing the position of my hand or whole body (generally going from sitting to standing) provides relief. It also feels better when I keep my hand down vs. elevating it. The location of the pain has also moved to the center of my palm, directly above my wrist. The whole palm is swollen, but there is a harder lump at the pain site.

I don't remember having any trauma to the hand, although I was moving quite a bit of heavy furniture shortly before it began. My doctor has ruled out a fracture and carpal tunnel. He told me to use an anti-inflammatory. I do get relief from ice. The pain is so localized that I suspect a blood clot. I know it's uncommon in the hand, so I think my doctor dismissed the possibility too quickly.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Kate, I'm sorry you're hurt.

I have, when I've bruised my bone and it really hurts. I know benadryl will help stop the inflammation cycle; even in small doses like half a tablet. If you're not nursing, it's usually safe to take.

If you have a cold laser I'd also shine it into the area of inflammation and pain.

    I hope this helps. Hugs,

Thanks, Pamela. I am still nursing. Unfortunately, I don't have a cold laser. I will keep up with the ice, Reiki and EFT.

That's what I thought, so I figured I'd better add the caveat. I'm so sorry it hurts, Kate. Bone bruises hurt so much!

If you have cayenne ointment, I do like to put that on as well as Biofreeze.

Did you smack your hand while moving furniture? I don't always remember smacking myself when I do have a bone bruise. I also know that when in a bad flare up with the fibro and myofascial I'll have those kinds of pains in my hands.

Sorry to ramble; I was up almost all night with a very hungry infant.

    Where is the pain?

I fell in Dec and use my palms to break the fall (still made a dent on my patella), and there was a bruise right where the when the Common palmardigital branchesof median nerve was. I use a LED light pad in the beginning, and it got rid of the bruise, but I did not use it long enough for complete healing, so I still have funny tingling and soreness when my arms was up doing the Broom. In the beginning, it was bad that I cannot even do sitting exercise on the floor where we need to use the palms and arms to prop us up.

I will say use castor oil and message that spot every day for a few times. If you have LED light pad use one, I am not sure what cold laser is, probably for similar cellular stimulation and regeneration, which castor oil can do, but takes looooonger and need more elbow grease,

I was going to say add cayenne extract in castor oil, but using cayenne seems to be too far out for most people, so I tune down my suggestion it. I know Pamela embraces it as much as I do, from the Dr. Christopher adoration.

I knew I would see ACV if I go to Earth Clinic... Oh, arnica gel, maybe health food stores?

Aurora, I hope you feel better and I do SO love Cayenne! It healed my 3 bleeding ulcers, and helped me have my beautiful son, so I am a major fan.

Lisa, this may help as well: http://www.dk.co.uk/static/cs/uk/11/...handchart.html

And I loved the link with the parts of the palm. Thank you for sharing.

Pamela, I am still drinking cayenne everyday for my sinus headaches, the warming and cooling pattern is unavoidable here. Now, I add ACV to it, I lost these inflammation swelling inches.

Thank you for the link, Ayj67. The pain is at the common palmar digital branches of the median nerve. I don't think it is a bone bruise, as the pain has migrated. And I don't have a visible bruise. It is just a sharp/burning pain. Sometimes when I very lightly run my finger over the area, there is a lingering burning pain.

I am completely open to cayenne! I was actually thinking about using it since it is good for circulation. I did apply arnica gel--couldn't find my Biofreeze. I forgot to put arnica on last night before bed. I wash my hands so much during the day and forget to reapply so it doesn't get a lot of time to work. I was also trying to get a better idea of possible causes before I just started randomly using things.
