Thread: feet and ankles

    Question feet and ankles

I feel like the more I T-Tapp the more my feet are wrong. I find it very hard to lift the big toe, grap with the little toes AND press on the ball joint. I can do two of them, but not the third. Yet when I push out with my knees the tendency is to go duck toed. My ankles seems to be swelling, and my guess is that it has to do with foot form. I've tried to bring my feet together to just mitten width as suggested by one of the threads. I've also noticed though that my hip, waist and upper thigh measurements are increasing and not decreasing. Could that be due to problems with the feet?

You don't really grab with the little toes. I would just focus on getting weight off the big toe, think push knees to middle or little toe. You might be trying too hard!

Waist and thigh measurements going up usually mean the shoulder/hip alignment is off. You might be focusing on your lower body and not realize the ribs have collapsed. Think of a string pulling your spine up through your head to the ceiling, elongating the distance between rib to hip vertically, to get shoulders in alignment with hips. I joke during classes that we "get one end fixed, the other end goes out!"

Yup, listen to Trisch. She wrote what I would have written, except, she writes way better!

Thanks so much. I'm going to go through the form slowly reading all the form tips on Michelle's post. I started with Basic + 2 years ago and had great results. Then I add SATI. A year ago something happened. I don't remember stopping, but I wasn't journaling so who nows if I was as faithful as I think--clearly I lost the form, and regained all the sizes I'd lost. I've been doing Basic Plus, Total Workout, Ladybugs Standing, and Step it to the Max--but not getting much in the way of results--certainly not like when I first started. But maybe I am trying too hard now. I'm going back to Basic + and just focusing on form. Thanks. Allyson
