Default New to T-Tapp - lyme disease

Hello, I have lyme disease and have just started t-tapp to try to rehabilitate myself after being very sick for 2 years. I am much better now but still have lyme.

I battle anxiety and depression along with some other symptoms. I need to lose 60 lbs and get my strength and energy back.

I am starting with the More dvd (I think that's the right name). I hope to learn from you here since I am still trying to learn the routine and all the moves. Anyone know about t-tapp and lyme disease and whether it can help beyond getting into shape?

    Welcome, Suelar!

Wow, two years of being very sick! I'm so glad you're much better! That must have been a challenge! It sounds like the antibacterial meds you took didn't totally knock out the Lyme disease? Bummer.

T-Tapp definitely helps the immune system in a couple ways that I know of (helping move the lymph around, opening up neurokinetic pathways) , as well as helping to balance hormones and build core strength. The More DVD gives you some very "do-able" options. There are some really short routines to start with, which should help you get stronger a little at a time, as well as two longer routines, about 25 minutes, for when your energy and strength are at good levels. One thing I keep hearing trainers say is "Don't overdo...be patient with yourself." Also, it's good to spend as much time as you need with the instructions to be sure your form is good, to maximize your strength increase and inch loss. Many people stay with instructions for up to a month before moving on, and even revisit the instructions a few times a year.

I wonder if eating lots of garlic and other foods with antibacterial properties would help kick the rest of the Lyme for you.

I wish you lots of success on your T-Tapp journey! I suspect you'll get a few more visitors to this thread....

    Hi Suelar,

    Welcome.

I just google Lyme Disease's recovery exercise recommendation, I guess we have to put you on serious adrenal fatigue category.

What might be the best for you to do is to just learn Primary Back Stretch from the More Instructional for a week, do it 4-5 days and see how your body can handle it before adding on additional move or short workout.

Piles is our cardio, 4 reps might be too much for you,so do just do 2 reps to learn.

Don't stress out about doing all the reps and all the moves.

Since all T-Tapp workouts are very lymphatic you will heal a lot faster.

In addition to just focus on one PBS per day then a few mins of walking, when you are up for it in a few weeks or month (listen to your body), 1 short workout from More Chair, More Broom and More Step Away every few days when you are up for it. Scale back if you are tired. PBS with any one of those short workout is 12-15 mins, and that might be the maximum for you once every 3-5 days. So, I think doing 5 mins a day and then add 5 mins of stepping might be what is best for you to pump the lymph and to build up stamina.

You will want to add skin brushing. Brush your skin before exercise (PBS) and brush your skin after exercise, it will help to detox. You can brushing as soon as you get up before shower, and brush before bed.

The most lymphatic moves are Stepping, PBS, Jazz Twist, T-Tapp Twist, Butterfiles and Hoe Down. Do at least one of these everyday. PBS is our warm up, cool down and all purpose self-contained mini workout, mastering it will help your master half of the T-Tapp moves.

Jazz Twist and T-Tapp Twist will require PBS to warm up, so do those only your feeling good days. Always end you workout with more lymphatic pumping like Hoe Down or the less exhausting stepping for a few minutes.

Just take it slow...like Ayj said... Doing just PBS for a few days will help you to start making that mind to body connection. Your body will thank you and it WILL respond! With the Lyme it will be best not to over do. That will bring too much stress and will be counterproductive. MORE is the very best DVD/workout! There are so many options. And as your body gains strength, the workout, itself, will become even more challenging. Being on the forum is so helpful for that encouragement and support that we all need.
