Default is it normal for your weight to increase during a bootcamp?

    Hello everyone,
I am on day 4 of a 15 day boot camp. It is my first one. I am also trying to eat intuatively with whole foods and limited carbs. I was certain from all that I was doing my weight should have gone down (or not gone up). I weighed myself this week and I am up almost 10lbs. I literally can't imagine what I am doing to cause this to happen. So, I was wondering if this could be normal when doing a boot camp? (It is too soon to measure so I can't say I have lost any inches. And, my clothing are fitting the same.)
Also, any adive you could offer would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Hello! You are gaining muscle Make sure you are eating good quality protein and good fats along with as many veggies as you can eat. Oh, don't forget your water too.

We build muscle strength and the muscles along the spine and so that adds weight. I remember Trisch posting a link to an old post by a trainer who was 200lbs and a size 10!!!! Isn't it amazing??

I love that!!!! I am a big girl already (in the 300's) so any extra weight scares me since I am working so hard to get that weight off. But, I will totally take muscle weight over fat any day Thanks for sharing that!!

Dolly, I only lost 30 lbs. with my first 8 sizes! Lost 20 lbs. with the last size---totally crazy! But even when I gained weight back that I had lost, I was either losing inches or maintaining in that department, so I always joked I was trading fat for muscle! It's a great trade!

    HUGS!

Thank you Trisch. That helps to hear. I just want to get healthier. In the end, I don't actually care what the scale says. But, getting into smaller pants would be amazing

Your body will also hold onto water to cool the muscles. When growing muscles you are, in reality, creating little tears in them. The retained water will cool and aid in their rebuilding. The water retention is temporary that is one reason it is important not to worry about measurements until after having a couple of days off from exercise. Same goes with the scale, I'm sure!

Believe it or not, drinking plenty of water will help you shed water, too.

You're doing great! Don't stop now!!

Do not be confused, I am NOT a trainer just someone who has been around for over 12 years and talks too much!

Hopefully one of the many Certified T-Tapp Trainers will be along shortly, with the most accurate information.

I love how T-Tappers have so much info at their fingertips. Hearing and knowing all these things helps so much! (Kicking myself for staying away from the forums so long!)

    Thanks, Lori!

I 100% agree. Eveyone has been so great. Thank you for your help.
Lori-I have not been drinking enough water so that is something I can definitely start improving on!
I am committed to T-Tapp and finishing my bootcamp. The weight increase is concerning only in the aspect of feedback. Getting all this information was so helpful. Thankyou.
