Thanks, Rita! And right now the forums are acting wonky for me, so it's harder for me to find the posts! But I'm sure it will all get worked out!
Sorry about the ick factor! The fat helps heal your adrenals and other glands. Fats are sooo important to properly make hormones. One of my regulars today was telling me how when they put her on a statin drug, she felt she lost her brain, she was so foggy-headed. Dr. had no idea what was going on, so she asked the pharmacist. Statin drugs pull the fat out of your body. It was pulling too much from her brain! The brain needs fat, too! In fact, my df whose dd is having seizures has her on a totally high fat diet that is actually helping. You think a bit of beef broth is bad to choke down--try having 95% of your calories coming from fat!
Right now the search function is acting up, too. I don't have the post with the notes bookmarked. When I can get to it again through the search function, I'll post it here if you don't already have them.
Rhodiola is something different than acerola. Here are a few links:

http://www.earthclinic.com/Supplements/rhodiola.html
Somewhere I read that it was not quite as "strong" as ginseng or eleuthro, making it easier on the adrenals. Haven't found that link yet!
HTH!
P.S. How about adding a pinch of ginger to your beef broth?

I will just say skim the fat, and cook your non gluten grain and vegetable with the fat. Like if you are eating rice or quiona, put the fat in during the cooking process. I routinely put a few tablespoon of coconut oil in the white rice, so that my sons and my husband will take in the good fats. I definitely use the animal fat and coconut oil to stir fry and pan fry my food too.
Lately, I am doing quite a bit of coconut and curries (coconut oil and turmeric are both good for the brain).
I did grow up drinking non fatty bone broth, so I understand. If you are not adverse to cream base soup or chowder, a little corn starch or rice power will thicken and blend the fat right in as flavor. Organic heavy cream if you can afford and tolerate.
You get the collagen and the dissolve calcium and minerals from the bone broth, nutrients are pulled on it liquid form already, it is easier for you body to take in the nutrient if you wonder why in the world will you need to go thru the trouble.

Hi Trisch,
Well, the ick factor is really my fault, I guess ?. (always had a weak stomach even though I grew up on a farm)
I think if I could stick to meat I eat regularly, such as chicken bones, that might not ick me out as much. Would that work too ? I hope so?
Would eating butter work as well ? That is easy to get down too.
And your sure I'm not going to be clogging up my arteries with all this fat. eh ?LOL
I read that Rhodiola can make you jittery ? LOL I can't afford to get anxiety going, as I have enough of trouble with that once I don't eat enough.
I have started with the Spirilina so far. And bought some Kelp and Rhodiola, but haven't taken them. I can't get Royal Jelly anywhere here so will have to keep looking. You did say that was the best you thought ?
Did you ever look at the supplements that Dr. Wilson recommends ? Did you ever use anything he recommended ? Just curious as I nearly bought some of his supplements before.
A pinch of ginger in the broth ? Not sure if that would help with the ick. LOL
Butter, coconut oil are both good fats too right?
Its' the broth that is richer in nutrients though correct ?
We normally eat pork chops and chicken (fast meals) but will make roasts and roast chicken's too. If that helps ?
Kelp I read can be bad for your thyroid. So, what do you think about taking it long term or is it only short term ?
I really need something to start building back my strength and just want to make sure I"m using the best stuff out there. I struggle with low blood sugar and anxiety if I don't eat, so don't want anything that could stir up anxiety.
If you have any other links or recommendations I'd love to hear them!
How long do you think it took you to start really healing from the broths and the supplements ?
I'm interested in hearing your story too.
Thanks Trisch,
~Rita

Thanks ayj67, really appreciate all the tips here.
I'm just getting through my KLT and butterflies for now. At least I Feel I'm doing something. So hard to do so little right now!
I thought the fat was supposed to be taken alone ? I could be wrong but I thought that was the point ?
I could likely get some fat in other ways if not. For example we ate steak the other day (what a treat!) and ate all the fat on the meat ? Is that an example of 'good fat ' ?
As I said, I think I could do chicken broth a little easier, as I often make soups and things. It is just buying things I don't normally buy (like beef bones, the fetlocks) and my stomach goes woosey.
It's all in the 'brain' I have. Just can't the image out of my head what it is. That's what makes it so hard. And so I'm thinking if I try again but with things I can tolerate better, would these all pass for good fats ?
Chicken bone broth, coconut oil, butter, (whatever fat I can get off of pork chops and steak) I cook with olive oil or put it on salad ?
Is there anything I"m missing ? Is there any kind of beef I could make a broth from that is not a leg bone or something ? Like ? I guess it's the 'bones' so not much choice there right ?
I can do dairy right now, so I could do heavy cream if needed. I have to cook for the boys though and they are dairy free so I would have to figure out about that one. (two batches).
Would you say coconut oil is better that butter ?
I"m trying to incorporate more good fats when I can so a complete list would be helpful so I know what ones I already naturally use that I just could add more in ?
Thanks for answering all my tedious questions on this.
Any suggestions anyone for more ttapp moves ? that are safe for adrenals like KLT and butterflies ?
Thanks everyone!
~Rita

Rita,
Kelp is only bad for thyroid if you have hyper-thyroidism, that means you have heart palpitation and losing weight faster than you can blink. Most of us are not in the hyper category. The hyper people will eventually wear the thyroid out and become hypo, that is slow metabolism and cannot get out of bed and cannot lose weight.

I'll jump in real quick and ask---were you just drinking the "fat" from the beef broth, Rita? I take my spoon and mix it all and then take a sip or drink so it is all blended in together. I might add in a dollop of butter or coconut oil. And no, right now I do not have organic butter or ghee. I suppose you could add a dollop of cream to yours.

Rita,
I haven't read all the posts here, but want you to know I am thinking of and praying for you. I have been dealing with adrenal fatigue as well and am finally at the end of the tunnel. We are all different and our bodies respond to different things, but the supplements that made the difference for me were rhodiola rosea, Teresa's alfalfa, and a quality B complex. I took several others too, but those were the biggies.
The other HUGE thing for me was learning to deal with stress. When you are already dealing with fatigue and adrenal issues it is REALLY easy to get overwhelmed and feel like nothing is ever going to get better. If you can get your family on board to help with cooking, cleaning, laundry etc. that would give you the time you need to rest and de-stress. A regular routine or schedule can eliminate decisions, which can be overwhelming as well. A couple of the things I did each day that helped me were:
-Daily warm bath with lavender oil and dead sea salt (or epsom salt)
-Sleep as much as needed to feel refreshed - the hours from 7AM-9AM are vital with adrenal fatigue - take naps
-deep breathing
-stretching or yoga
-fun - try to laugh or smile each day - even if it is fake or forced it still works
-renew your spiritual life daily
The diet tips you have gotten here are great. Eat clean, whole foods in balance. I did Paleo for a few months and that was the big breakthrough for me. I then was able to add some foods back in. I wouldn't have been up for that in the beginning though because it would have been way too overwhelming. Do what you can and try to have patience. My doctor told me it would take at least a year to heal, and it has been 9 months and feel like I am almost there. Love yourself and be patient with yourself. We are here for you.
Blessings,
Angie
Hmmm, okay? I think I understand. Meaning those of us with fat that won't leave us.and cannot get out of bed in the morning are okay ? My thyroid test once, was normal but I"d like it checked again. Would it be recommended perhaps for a trial of a few months and rest for a bit before continuing ?
Thanks ayj67.

Just7, no I don't think I was just drinking the 'fat' I stirred it well then put it in a cup, then kept stirring it as I drank it to keep it mixed.
And is butter or coconut oil better ? I could love butterbut could do coconut oil too. I suppose some of each at different times would be better ?
I just have regular butter, so hope that counts ?
Thanks !
