Question Moving from Florida to North Dakota....words of wisdom?

I posted a little while back about a black mold in my mom's house. Well, unfortunately, we haven't left yet due to financial problems. However, my children's father has come across a job opportunity in Watford City, North Dakota. I told him that if he stays with it for a few months at least then we will move up there with him. Here's the thing, I know next to nothing about North Dakota! I've lived in Florida 98.345% of my life. I've been looking it up online and I read that the job market up there is better than down here (I've put in over 150 applications in the last year and got 1 callback). I'm Microsoft Office Certified, a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant, have two years office experience and three years grocery retail experience. What are the chances I land a job up there? I'm mainly aiming this at those who live up around there of course. It doesn't have to be Watford City, just within driving distance. If he sticks with this job, we would probably headed up there around September - October. Thanks in advance ladies!

Sorry I don't know anything about Watford City specifically but I do know that the entire state's economy is absolutely booming because of the shale oil extraction that's going on there so you shouldn't have any difficulty finding work. I know that Grand Forks and Fargo are both doing very well.

There is also a T-tapper who used to be on the forums who lives north of Watford (sorry I forget the town) hopefully she'll see this and pop on

There's lots of opportunities up there. My sister is up there and is an engineer. You should have no difficulties with your qualifications in finding work up there. I wish you the best!

I don't know much about North Dakota....but if you are going to be moving anywhere close to the oil drilling, please be very careful. My hubby knows a few guys who are working out there and they have said the crime has gotten so bad, that they are leaving.

On another note, I left Florida to come to Norther Wisconsin to give my children a happy, healthy, safe life....now the Frac Sand Mines have come into Wisconsin and they are destroying it!! So sad, seriously thinking of moving again, although my children are now 15, 14 and 11 and happy here.

    Take care!
