Default Finishing Boot Camp with Basic Workout - on to Total Workout?

Can someone please tell me the difference between these 2 workouts? I ordered the DVDs in the Total System package but most of them will not play. (I'm awaiting my replacements.) I've been doing Tempo Basic as my workout for my 14 day bootcamp. My last day of Boot Camp is tomorrow. Should I continue with Tempo Basic once I start my every other day program until I get my replacement DVDs?

Basic Workout is a 15 minute workout. It is the first part of the Total Workout, which is a 45 minute workout. When you "master" the Basic Workout, you can begin learning the Total Workout. BTW, many people who've been around awhile say it's good to spend LOTS of time on the instructions, and not rush through to the "actual" workout, because it is really important to get form as correct as possible to see maximum results.

Congrats on your 14 day boot camp! You can definitely continue with Tempo Basic as long as you want. Every other day for a few weeks, then on to twice a week for maintenance is what seems to be recommended. Hope your replacements work for you!

Ahem, Jane, you started with Tempo Basic? Hmmmm, when you get Basic and Total, you have to go back to do Instructional 1 (In the Basic Plus DVD).

You will want to stay on Instructional 1 for a month at least before looking into anything else. Do you have the books and read the book before starting on Tempo Basic? If you have not read the book and Tempo Basic was the first workout you did with T-Tapp, you have to go back to the instructional.

Here is my little sister's story: she said the Instructional 1 skipped, so she started with Basic for a month or two and then went on Tempo Basic for 16 months. The power of T-Tapp, she must have done a lot of muscles activation, she lost 4 sizes, but she has not been able to lose must on her arms and legs (no nice long lean arms and legs) and still have some recurring arms and shoulder pain issue.

Now, she started getting back to Instructional and start learning how to tuck butt and the rest of the correct alignment, which was taught in instructional 1. As I was correcting her butt tuck yesterday, she was standing there sweating like she never had, and we were still at standing T-Tapp stance.

When you do T-Tapp in correct alignment your results will be fast. When you are not doing T-Tapp in correct alignment, you will slow down the progress and will receive less of the pain relief.

One more things I corrected my sister yesterday was the arms alignment at Piles Arm Pressed, she started feeling the tingling from lats to the donut hand fingers started to curl by themselves. Neuro-transmitters are working as soon as the alignment is corrected. I bet her shoulder and arms issues will be resolved pretty soon.

So, don't do what my sister did.

@ayj67... do I detect a condescending tone? I can assure you I am using correct form. I was able to watch the instructional a couple of times before it quit working on me, so I went back to the book and thankfully the Tempo Basic DVD was working at least. I lost 9.25 inches (everywhere) my first week alone, and I know I have lost more this week. I can tell by the way my clothes fit. I am feeling cinched all over, but I won't measure again until Thursday. I definitely have the tingle in my arms thru my fingers in steps 11-17 of PBS. I know I have the form down. Actually I think the cues are much better in Tempo Basic than they are on the instructional DVD. Having said that my main worry is a 45 minute workout. I can barely make it through 15! I have a disease that wears me out very fast, and I have little stamina. It has improved some over the last week or so, but I know I am no where near being able to 45 minutes. Where do I go from here?

Not condescending, but I was expecting you not liking my suggestion of going back to Instructional 1.

Tempo Basic is the workout that is the most like the book, and it is intermediate to advance level. Now, we have another even more advance workout call Total Superslow, that is an instructional better than Instructional 1, and that is the gold standard on the forms and alignment and activation, but that is not for starter. As T-Tapp is progressive, there are alignment and forms that Teresa wants us to do first before getting to the advance. Some of them had to do with the neuro-kinetic connection, some of them are related to rebuilding flexibility of muscle, tendons and ligament. She has the steps and levels laid out to Instructional first, then BWO+, then Tempo, then Maxi Max level.

In Tempo, she does not give times for set up, as you are supposed to have learned the proper set up and have it as a habit or second nature with Instructional 1 before doing the BWO+.

My sister loss 4 sizes within 1 year with just Tempo Basic, 6 days a week, no other workout (no dieting). She got great results for her torso, but if she did better on her alignment, she might be completely pain free with the long leaner muscles on the arms and legs too.

If you have done Tempo with the Book, maybe you don't need to go back to the instructional. However, even master trainers go back to the instructional once very few months. The book and instructionals are not exactly the same, one compliment the other and they are not a substitute of each other.

If you have adrenal issue, or any auto-immune system disease, alignments is the most important. The alignments are better learned when you have time to set up correctly and do it slowly with Instructional 1.

Well, if I were you, I will do BWO+ in front of the mirror with the book one day, and mirror with Tempo Basic another day until I get the Instructional 1. There is need to rush thru to Total if you need the quality and not the quantity of the workout. Once you are down pat with Instructional 1, might just 1-2 weeks (because you were studying from the book too), you can add one move per week from Instructional 2 if you want to add.

Like I mentioned, you don't have to do Total if you don't want to, you just need to do the best BWO+ alignment and activation every time.

Hello and welcome! I would also suggest doing instructional 1 for a week when you get it and try using a mirror. Since you have health issues your body needs to heal, T-Tapp can help with that You might be amazed what you will hear. Sometimes we miss little tweaks Teresa is saying because we are concentrating on another part of our body. It is worth going back to instructionals through out your T-Tapp journey.

I do agree with the others as far as---once your new DVDs come in---spend a slow couple of weeks on the Instructionals. It won't hurt at all and it may even help with further healing and increasing your stamina. EVERY move of T-Tapp---even those done slowly and just a few at a time---is doing something in our body.

You mentioned that LONG workout. I agree!! So break it up--Do BWO+ one day. The next do PBS and then Lunges to Runners Stretch or Airplanes (I can only get to Airplanes), and then PBS, start from where you left off and continue to the end. You could take a day off in between doing just one or two moves...like PBS and HD, or PBS, Reach Scoops, and TTT.

One other thought is use the book on your off days (always start with PBS even if it's just the first part before clasping arms behind back) and slowly work your way through the book doing one move a day. You have the opportunity to really focus on each move, muscle activation, better form.

I think that every person will continue to improve their form no matter how long they do T-Tapp. No one's form is ever perfect. One reason why I love T-Tapp so much! Always improving, always learning.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I don't have a mirror that I can place where the TV is. All my mirrors are on walls. I am constantly tweaking my my form. I did Pilates for years, so I know well the importance of form. Then I hit a wall with my illness. Couldn't even make it through the first 10 minutes of a workout. I was researching my condition and kept coming across T-Tapp. The lymphatic and neuro-kinetic focus sounded like just what I needed, so I plunged. (Btw... just finished 14 day boot camp today. I have lost a total of 17.25 inches so far!)

Yea Jane! Congratulations on such a terrific start!

Just a note about mirrors. Like you, all my mirrors are stuck to walls, and at totally incovenient spots/heights. So I went to Walmart and bought 2 of those cheap full length mirrors you stick on the back of your door. I just get them out of my closet and lean them against whatever is handy wherever I am working out. When I'm done, back in the closet they go. Amazing the difference it has made in my form!
