Thread: Can this really work?

  1. Default Can this really work?

I have been going for three weeks and I so want all the advertising to be true: Lose 2 sizes in 4-6 weeks without dieting. I started with the book and have gone to the video. It has been almost four weeks and I have lost 1 inch. Nothing in the hips and legs which is what I need to lose. Does this really work? I am 44 and just want to lose about 20 punds and have not been able to so in the last five years. So I tried this. Any suggestions. As for the diet, I don't eat much junk food or pre packaged food, but I am probbly too heavy on the carbs.

    Hi and Welcome!

First off, there are some people who do lose 2 sizes in 4 weeks, but the majority don't. Did you spend any time on the Instructionals?? Do you have any adrenal/thyroid problems? If not, I would suggest you to focuse on the Instructionals for 2 weeks....your schedule could be like this: M-Inst.1, T-Inst.2, W-Inst.1/or if your tired, do PBS, TTT, 1 HD, Th-Inst.2, F- Inst. 1, Sat-Inst.1/or PBS, TTT, 1 HD, S- off

    HTH!!

Abbie is right--there are other issues that can keep us from losing a size in 4-6 weeks. Yes, the book advertises that because it is possible. No Teresa didn't address every possible issue in the book because then it would be 500 pp! LOL!

Often our bodies need to heal from the inside out. Other times it could be, as Abbie pointed out, we need more time on the Instructionals. In the beginning, the Instructionals WERE the workouts! If you have no fatigue issues, alternating is great, or you could focus a few weeks on Instructional 1 then do Basic Workout Plus for a few more weeks, then start Instructional 2.

Be sure to read Michelle's excellent tips on curling your core-very helpful!

The book advertisement is true for some people---hence the title! However, it is usually more applicable to larger people. Someone who is only 20 pounds over weight will take more time and diligence. Plus, it's likely you won't lose any weight, but just inches over time. When I came to T-Tapp, I had 20 pounds and 2-3 sizes to lose. The first 8 weeks of T-Tapp, I could not see any difference. By 5 months I had gone from a size 8 to a size 4 but only lost 10 pounds!!!!!

    Hang in there!!!!

    Hi Greatmom,

    Welcome. Don't give up.

I lost 2 size within 3 weeks, I was 43, it has to do with where your inches are and what is considered a size. I am short torso with all those barrel belly abs and waist fat. I lost 16.5 inches within 2 weeks. More than 3 inches came off from the waist and abs each. The standard size increment for Size 4-12 are 1.5 inches. So, by getting from a size 14 waist line to a Size 10 waistline, I can wear 2 sizes smaller tailored shirt.

I was doing a combination of More Instructional, Instructional 1 and Instructional 2 for 2 weeks straight. I was at the learn phase during my vacation, I did the workout when I feel like it and had plenty of sleep and food and no stress. I just wanted to learn the workout and be proficient at it to teach my sister before the vacation was over.

There are many factors to why you are not losing.

First and the easiest to fix is the forms, as we can even help you here. Go back to instructionals and do it slow and smooth with controlled motions and pay attention to the cues and really curl your core. Count the muscles you are moving in each move, if you cannot, slow it down from Teresa's 8 rep to 4 reps, like Tai Chi. If that still does not work, so that down from 8 reps speed to 2 reps speed. Once you know where, you tighten and use those muscles in faster speed. When in doubt, do it slow. Practice curling the core before even start the exercise will be important. Standing T-Tapp stance more correctly than not will be essential, curl the core with lifted ribs and lats tight (lower back muscle) will be very crucial. Even if you think your have learned go back and relearn base on the tips from Michelle. http://forum.t-tapp.com/showthread.p...220#post860220

Seriously, after 22 months, I am still practicing tuck butt. It is a progression, you can always do it better. When you do the tuck better, you kick your workout up a new notches.

If you are in any place where you can go to a clinic or see a trainer, please do so. It will only help your progress faster. Web training is also a good option, in fact, Kayla can do it and so can Michelle.

I had no dietary change, as my diet was not horrible to begin with. However, if eating 12-16 servings of bad carb a day (like in the past few months), I will slowly gain my fat back, and that is the truth. I just don't gain as fast as I used to. If you know you overuse carb, T-Tapp can only help to slow down your gaining, it is not going to help your lose. I am in general good with 6-8 servings of carb a day. Is there any underlying issue on using so much carb? Maybe you need to eat more fat and protein to stay satisfied. Low fat or no fat is not a good thing.

Next factor is hydration, are you drinking enough water? Minimum 0.5 oz of your weight. If you are chronically dehydrated, you might even need to drink more. Don't drink 24 oz at a time, drink 8 oz every 30-45 mins and make sure all your cell are hydrated. If you drink coffee and tea a lot, those dehydrate your body, so cut it down or increase your water, you choice.

Our body will hang on to the fat if it sense famine and drought. So, in addition to water, you need to eat good nutrients from vibrant color fruits and vegetables, good fat (coconut oil, grass fed butter and olive oil, omega 3), good protein. Increase your intake of good nutrient and try to eat balance profile with fat, protein and carbs for every snacks and meals. Eat often, every 3-4 hours and never starve yourself. You don't need to count the calories, but make sure what you eat is balanced everytime and offer nutrients, and never starve yourself.

Health, both physical and mental are important. Do you have any health or hormone issues and are you under stress? Those need to be addressed.

Last but not the least, rest. Sleeping is very important. If you don't have enough sleep, your body will be out of whack, it will need some security blanket to feel safe (that is the fat layer).

I am not sure about the statistics of people losing 2 sizes in 4 weeks and I don't think I am an exceptional success. My sister lost in the same speed and we do not have those other weight stalling factors so huge to stall our inch loss. We were both average to lose.

T-Tapp will heal from internal to external. Once your internal health issues are resolved, the outside will follow.

Thanks everyone for responding. I haven't even worked out once this week because I pulled m back Saturday. I will go back to the instructionals. I keep thinking I want to do t-tap and something else. The t-tap is very different thatn what I have tried in the past. The old saying "everything will work if only we just do it" reverberates through my head. I am the combo body tyoe that has all the hard to lose areas. I don't think i have any rel issues other than oncomeing menepause, which I seem to be beginning. I have the t-tap basic plus. So, from what i hear, I need to do the instuctional for several weeks, drink more water, reduce my carbs (i was aiming for only three complex carbs per day) and not to skip snacks. Is it ok to do another workout later on in the day like the step workout or just some basic pushups and situps? thanks for everyones input.

    Hi Wannabeagreatmom,

I sympathise on being a combo - I am too and we can take soooooo long to go down a size, although we get lots of lovely reshaping between sizes, as we lose from our arms, calves, shoulders etc!

If you have the book, you'll see it says that because t-tapp is so different, it's a good idea to stick with it only for at least a month. If you're activating your muscles well, you won't feel like doing second workout on the same day and we all need to be careful of over-exercising (which can cause inflammation and tiredness)

When you say the step workout, do you mean Step Away the Inches? Or another walking workout?

You could always save the other workout for the day off in between. T-Tapp one day...walking or treadmill or some weight work another day if you like that kind of variety. I would definitely give yourself at least one month or even two to only do T-Tapp. Your body is learning a whole new way of working itself. Every move in T-Tapp is working 5-7 muscle groups at once. It is AMAZING! It is so hard for us to realize that Less truly is More with T-Tapp. We want instant gratification....smaller sizes, less weight, a non-hurting body, etc. Sometimes we just have to stick with it and be consistent.
