Thank you so much everyone. I'm healing up and can see my lap again! It's awesome. The bulk of the weight where I'm still quite swollen is right under my rib cage. The fundus was under my ribs by a few inches. It'll come in time. I'm being good.

Yesterday Shaphan passed his hearing tests with flying colors. It was hilarious. It was our first HOT day and he had a wet diaper so when she put the instrument in his ear, he began to literally GROWL at her and glare and chomp his pacifier as though he were chomping her.

Now mind you, this is a very sweet and compliant baby doing this. We laughed so hard. She's never had a baby growl at her before and they were so busy in the birth ward no one was available to video it.

After changing him and removing some of his hot clothing, he was all smiles and cooperated beautifully.

This kid is more like me every day.

My Mom headed back today and I'm grateful to say it was a very positive overall visit. I miss her already. She was on her best behavior and enjoyed herself, which makes such a positive difference. I prayed so hard to make her comfortable, to be happy and patient and accepting and it helped me a lot. She can still exasperate but so can I and I just learned that she talks out loud without really expecting a reply so I didn't answer and that worked well. When she wanted an answer, I answered patiently. She still doesn't listen well, but we still had a good time and Jephthah needed it so badly. My little boy is so very sweet and it was poignant to watch him enjoy his Nona so much.

    Hugs to you all,

It's good to see an update, Pamela! Had there been concern about his hearing? I'm so glad that it all went well. Especially glad to hear that you were able to enjoy your time with your mom. Sometimes the familial relationships can get rather messy....LONG histories and hard memories, at times.

    Jennifer, too true about families.

My oldest sister and youngest stopped pretending to have anything but hatred for me as soon as my father died. I didn't go along with double lives and they've never forgiven me for not lying to our parents for them. Ironically, my mother spends most of her time with them and I was the one she could trust.

They still communicate regularly with our eldest son though he knows they hate me and have never acknowledged my other children, which offends me deeply. It's so disloyal and ugly. My eldest sister's comment learning I had Shaphan was to criticize me and say how awful that I will look like the Grandma, etc. My mother told her here with all the professors and professional people, having kids in their 40's is very normal. She looks old for her age (50 and haggard) but I'm still mistaken for my 27 y.o.'s girlfriend or sister. Jealousy is rottenness to the bones, isn't it? Skin too.

The hearing test is automatic and usually done by 2 weeks of age, so it was just something to confirm. He has really good hearing and he is feisty and sweet and so adorable. If anyone wants me to forward a picture of him to you, please email me and I'll send it on. I cannot for the life of me load images and with pregnancy brain, won't probably learn soon.

    Hugs to you all!

Pamela - So glad everything is going so well and that you had a good visit with your mom. Hard living and hard emotions will make you look old. :-) So glad you are choosing to be young. You do know that older mom's live longer! :-)

Hi Pamela - Congratulations! Just getting caught up on all the threads. It's a little late...but heartfelt, none-the-less.

    Thank you so much.

I emailed those of you whose email addresses I have and who have shown an interest a picture of Jephthah holding Shaphan. I'll upload current pictures soon!

    hugs
