    Default Yelllow teeth...HELP!

My 12 yr olds son's teeth are slightly yellowish in color. They are clean and he takes good care of them...he had his first cavity though last year...they have been this color since he was little.
He has asthma and I did read that the meds can cause yellowing of the teeth...
I recently read that loss of minerals can cause yellowing and that you could remineralize your teeth somehow...I wasn't thinking of ds s teeth at the time and didnt read it carefully..
Does anyone have any ideas about this...
I would love him to have more white teeth!
    hugs

Try Hydrogen Peroxide. This is the active ingredient used in all those fancy teeth whitening Kits. Dilute it with little a tablespoon of water and rinse.

    You can do it!

I think someone who has more knowledge than me may have the specifics about how magnesium oil works. I read about it on the forums and I have tried it off and on but do notice a difference when I squirt a bit on my brush. The whitening is not overnight but bit by bit they do get whiter.

I'm sure someone will pop on here with more info...

I am also looking for options on this for my DH and DD. While the whitening will be a nice side effect, I want their teeth to be stronger. Pamelaw on the forums listed a recipe that uses monosodium phosphate. Other things I've found on-line suggest crushing calcium supplements and adding to other ingredients, but I question the effectiveness of a topical application.

I heard that you have to stop using the commerical toothpaste with for the teeth to get remineralized. Was it the gycerine coating that blocks the mineral reabsorbing. I was trying to find a place with reasonable priced MSP, I couldn't find it yet. Tooth soap, Teresa just started carrying is a good sub for toothpaste. I am using DE mixed with Mag oil (and some spearmint and OoO) for my tooth, they are pretty good for getting the tooth whiter.

Joni, ask your doctor if other children using the same asthma med causes yellowing too. When I was growing up, I remember my classmates who were on asthma med, there teeth were not just yellow, they are grayish... They said it was the med. Some got vaneers when they are 16-17. I think there was a thread long time ago about remineralize enamel...

My teeth were "yellow-ed" by having braces on for 5 years. They weren't to bad, but I sure did notice. Trisch posted that she makes her own toothpaste, and since I'm all for homemade and natural, I decided that I'd try it.

I've been using the homemade toothpaste for a year and I can totally see a difference! They aren't nearly as yellow as before, I am amazed to say the least!

I didn't have all the oils that Trisch put in her TP, but I just made do with what I have. I mix baking soda, coconut oil, sea salt, and a drop of peppermint oil. I like mine to be a little "slushy" so I don't add as much baking soda...just depends on what consistency you like.

Just the other day, I had to use store bought toothpaste, and I almost gagged. It was way to sweet and "foamy". Horrible stuff....I sure was glad to brush again with my homemade stuff! LOL!

So, there's my .02! Y'all probably knew all that before! LOL!

We make our own tooth paste with monosodium Phosphate, zeolite, magnesium oil, coconut oil and ground cloves. It works great and remineralizes the teeth, protects from cavities and really kills the bad stuff.

Where do you get your monosodium phosphate, Pamela? I knew there was a great ingredient you used but couldn't remember it off the top of my head! I'd love to add that into our mixture. The dc still have some cavity issues, and so do some of us older ones. We're doing what we can from the inside, but I think it's important to do what we can on the outside, too!

    TIA!
