Trisch, I'm so sorry for all the tooth stuff you are dealing with! I have to think some of it is genetic or something...I know it sounds like a cop-out...but its the only way I can explain how lucky we've been. I remember having cavities as a kid though, and have the silver to show for it! But my kids? We've had only 1 superficial surface cavity that developed because of the way the tooth formed. My kids have brushed routinely only once a day and we've always used boughten toothpaste...about half the time flouride free. I had my oldest one get the sealants but have refused it for the 10 year old. We seem to be doing fine without them. I guess God decided I needed a break...

Question for you Trisch. I have a first time freshner that had a baby a year ago. She's giving me a quart every morning...and at this point in her life seems to be at capacity with that amount as she's really tight and needs to be milked. I got her in January and she was supposedly just bred and should be 10 weeks from delivery now. We can't see a pregnancy developing at all! She has never had any extra weight on her. Some days I'll think 'maybe' she's filling out in the lower belly and then I think not. Anyhow...I should dry her up just in case shouldn't I? I hate to do it if she's not pregnant but guess I shouldn't take the chance. Sigh. I know its not a lot of milk but its a quart and I'm milking anyway! She won't be easy to dry up. I'd love it if she was pregnant because she's a beautiful goat and I think she'll freshen up nicely and be a much bigger provider of milk then she is now.

Oh I hate it when those decisions need to be made, Rose! I will say we have had a few goats that hardly show and then there's others you KNOW they're pregnant. Just like women!

I know there have also been some people who have "milked through". You'd want to be sure she's getting plenty of food and minerals (I know there's a debate on how much grain--we're still finding our way through that, too!).

I know there is a goat pregnancy test, but I think it's a blood test so you'd need a blood draw. Although, in the back of my mind, seems I read about one that uses the milk.....wonder if can find that...I'll look!

So I really didn't give you much to go on, did I?!

    Here's one forum I found:

    And here is a lab:

Might be worth a shot just to be sure you don't lose that quart! It's funny how we'll view things differently--plenty of goats milking and one is giving 1 cup a day, dry her off. Hardly any goats milking and one giving 1 cup a day, keep her going!

Wendy, maybe you should ask her if she is planning on wearing them all to her next outing! Oh I am no help at all laughing over here. She is such a cute stinker that I can admire from afar! Now send those great mothering skills over here for my kids to clean their rooms and put things away anywhere. Just so I can so the floor would be good! I am happy if clothes make it to the drawers! I gave up on hangers yrs ago because the only thing they did was break and cost extra money. See I put them on the hangers and they would pull them off trying for what they wanted. My frustration ended with the drawers! I even bought the girls a devider thing for one outfit per 5 days thing. Nope just sat in the closet empty. I have no idea how mom maniaged to have our clothes always hung up! I am a failure! By the way I am curious to know her reasoning if you find out! I think I would wave a white flag and be happy with her piles and drawer.

Trisch, so sorry for your frustration! If you find the magic key to great teeth let me know! I am sure it is not just about good hygeine and good food. Maybe how well the food is asimilated by Pamela's post? I would love further explaination on that one! Are these the girls with the digestive issues to begin with?

Hi Pamela, Rose, and everyone else!

    Hi all!

I am pleased to announce the birth of Ruth Abigail Marr! Little Ruthie was born on March 31st (10 days overdue!!!) after a great labor!

On THe 30th, we decided that it was time to be very proactive in getting her here. GOt my membranes stripped, started some herbs, and various other things, ending in castor oil. It was an all day deal, and labor started at 6 pm. From six till 11, they stayed regular from 3-5 minutes apart, and were still bearable, but I was getting really tired. I was up to a 6, but it looked like we had hours ahead of us. So.... my midwife told me to go to bed and do my best to sleep. And sleep I did! For 2 hour. I woke up at 1 am. At 1:14 I was holding my daughter!!!!

Lets just say I missed my water birth, lol. I woke up and went to the bathroom and had quite a contraction! Woah, that was intense. Went back to bed and had 2 more, and my water broke. I barely got from bed to kneeling on the floor, and pushed her out in 1 more contraction. The midwife got in there in time to get my pants around my knees as I was pushing, lol. I'll take that kind of labor anyday!!!! Very intense, yes, but so short that i didn't even have time to panic.

I'm sorry that i didn't update sooner. Our babymoon has been a little more challenging than the labor, unfortunately. Ruthie was tongue tied and in the process of breastfeeding, she pretty much mutilated my nipples, making them raw, bloody with deep craters. We got it clipped and I just got a pump to use while trying to heal, but my days pretty much have revolved around feeding her and pain. It has been rough.

DH is back to work today, so I am on my own with 6 littles - for a 14 hour work day. After 2 1/2 hours of sleep last night. Prayers are very appreciated!

    Misty, Happily married Momma to 6 precious kids, Rosy - 8, Grace - 7, Lizzie - 5, Andy - 4, Rebekah 2 months, and Ruthie - 6 months.

Oh MY Misty! Glad she got her safely!

And ouch! Will definitely pray for your healing and sanity! No one can come stay with you for a few days during the day to help?

    HUGS!

Anyone know of any FREE magazines that could be downloaded to the Nook or to the Kindle Fire??? I just heard that if you purchase them while still in the U.S. that they will still come, but you cannot buy or download them from within Japan! HELP only a few more days...any other must haves (free) for either the Nook or the Kindle Fire would be much appreciated!!!

Hi everyone. I'm wondering how much info is available about the EMF fields and Kindles? If anyone has any info/links to share, I'd love that, please, as Kindle is looking more and more attractive.

I had an uneventful night and did rest well and think things will calm down as they should for the next couple of weeks, so Yes!

I am a little upset and will go ahead and share why. A friend who I've gone above and beyond for 3 years during her crisis' (most of which she has created being very impulsive, etc., as a Type 1 who isn't really thinking things through) begged to help with the shower. "Anything I can do!!" She was given one small task of confirming 4 addresses of people she sees every week and it's been a month and she won't respond to messages of any kind to confirm them. She has, yet again, disconnected and disappeared.

I know all the reasons she may do this, including embarrassment and hiding, etc., and frankly, I don't care. A yes should be yes and a no, no. If she cannot find the confirmation or won't help, she should SAY so instead of yet again, messing up someone who doesn't deserve it and who has never done this to her.

I'm ready to disinvite her to the shower, I'm so disgusted. We were a port in a storm that was a times dangerous due to the nut she married and who she made even crazier with her flaky behavior. For 3 years we were there for her and this is too much to ask? I don't think so.

She complains her family treats her like she cannot be trusted, and like a child and Hello! Of course they do when this type of disrespectful behavior is her norm. What an immature attitude and lack of empathy for the people she messes up.

Anyway, vent over. Thanks for letting me type.
