Default Anyone up for a mindful eating challenge?

I was thinking about Vanetta's post in this thread
    http://forum.t-tapp.com/showthread.p...mindful+eating

and realizing how much mindless eating I do, especially when I am cooking dinner. Yes, the cook has to taste to season, and I'm not talking about that, but more just the mindless nibbling as I cook...and this is before I sit down to eat. Oftentimes it is only veggies, but not always.

Anyone want to join me this week to really pay attention to mindless eating (I'm sure I'm not the only one who does this ) and to focus on stopping and noticing this? It's not a habit to be overcome quickly, but recognizing it is the first key.
I think focusing on hunger cues and thinking about "do I feel full" is another aspect of this, too.

Mindless eating has always been my downfall. I will join you in the challenge, Nanci. It is Lent and that may help me as well. Although I am old enough to be excused from the fasting laws, I still like to keep them as best I can for all 40 days. However, mindless eating sometimes makes it difficult. With 2 incentives, maybe I will succeed.
Thanks for the opportunity to do so.

    So glad, Wanda

Already this morning before 9 am, I was able to be "mindful" instead of mindless. My daughter made granola and it was out on the counter on the baking sheets. Normally I just walk by and mindlessly nibble at it, but I stopped myself.
Then when my other daughter didn't want to finish her granola that she had poured milk into, I gave it to the dog instead of eating it myself so as not to "waste" it.
I'm going to be mindful and not be the wastebasket finishing up my little one's food so it doesn't go to waste. Better in the trash than on me!

What a fabulous thought!!! How many of us are wastebaskets? What a powerful visual! Congratulations on recognizing it and taking mindful steps Nanci. And thanks for sharing that thought - I'm very visual, I think that will really help. (And I'm sure the dog was pleased too....... lol)

    Default I'm in

I will join you in mindless eating challenge. I am learning and taking too long to consistently eat only when I have the hunger cues and stop when I am satisfied. It's so simple but definitely not easy. God is helping me though, now I have to just allow Him to

If there is something left, I usually finish it off so as not to have to worry about leftovers (We don't have a dog any more.) Tonight, I resisted and put the leftovers in the fridge. And I usually do a lot of snacking while at the computer. But am drinking cold water instead!

This morning I was eating breakfast and I heated up something that was leftover to eat along with something else. Well when I bit into the leftover a few times I did not like it. So instead of eating it anyways even if I didn't like it, I threw it out and just ate the other instead. That was good although I still ate more bfast than I needed.
