OIP and uterine prolapse
Hi Everyone! I have been searching the forum for information on using OIP/HFs to help with a prolapse of the uterus, and can't find any very recent threads. The old links seem to be broken, so I'd like to ask if anyone has any experience with OIP/HFs helping this condition. I'm pretty sure that I have a prolapse, and would like to avoid surgery. I have an appointment for an exam next week, but I'd rather not waste any time! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. !
Just FYI, I'm a 57 year old Mom to 12 and Gramma to 9. I guess my uterus thinks it can go wherever it wants after all I've put it through, but I'd still like to keep it around and in its place if possible! : )
Thanks in advance,
Jan

I have had many clients avoid surgery by using OIP/HF. This powerful movement help to strengthen your transverse abs to "Hold" your internal organs in and up, therefore not pressing the uterus down and out. I would suggest you do this movement 2 - 3 times a day for the next 30 days. Regardless of what your uterus may think... I am here to tell you it can not rule you
Keep us posted!

Thanks Michelle and Rachelle. I will definitely work on doing the OIP/HF for at least a month or more (and hopefully from now on), and I also have been using our inversion table today. That feels really, really good. I also did a little research and ordered a medical grade post-partum belly compression garment (otherwise known as an old fashioned girdle!) that is supposed to be helpful with uterine prolapse. I hope it will hold everything in place until my own muscles can take over. I'll try to remember to post back here with my progress. Thanks again.

One more question and an update...
Wow! That's about all I can say. In just two days of doing OIP/HF + a couple of sessions on the inversion table per day I am seeing significant improvement in my prolapse. Thank you so much, ladies for your help! Just one more question... I had mentioned that I ordered a medical grade belly-compression garment (girdle) which should arrive today, and I am wondering if that would be a help or a hindrance. One article that I read said that it would hurt by putting too much pressure on my organs, but it seems sensible to me that it would help to hold everything in place after doing the OIP/HFs until my own transverse muscle strengthens from doing those exercises and the kegels I've also been doing. What do you think? The girdle should be coming in the mail today...
Thank again so much! This is just another reason to thank Teresa for T-Tapp!!!
Very gratefully,
Jan

Ok I certainly don't know for sure but I will tell you what I have noticed in myself. When I wear my spanx on Sunday's that hold it all in, I notice I don't have to work to hold it in myself. On the other days I am constantly reminded to pull belly button in, ribs up ect. So my thought it while yes it may hold everything in place, it may not allow your muscles to do the work of getting strong because the girdle is doing the work for you. Just a thought. I have no idea if that applies to your specific situation, although if you are seeing results after just a few days of OIP/HF then no other help may even be needed!!
Good luck!!

Thanks, Stephanie! I appreciate your thoughts... That's about the same thing that Michelle told me, too, so I think I'll hold off on wearing the compression garment (I hate calling it a girdle - sounds so OLD!). : )

Not uterine prolapse
Just a quick update... A trip to our local clinic let me know that I don't have a uterine prolapse, but I DO have a cystocele - or bladder prolapse. The PA who examined me was not able to tell me to what degree I have it, but it is definitely there. I have been doing OIP pretty regularly, along with the Hab-it DVD, and I think I'm getting good results. I would like to add more exercise in, but am a little concerned about doing too much and exacerbating the problem. My question is this: which T-Tapp exercises would be the best to add, besides OIP/HF? I have Total Workout, BWO+, Barefoot BWO, BWO Tempo (forgive me if I don't have these names exactly right!), HTF (which I think is a no-no, as we shouldn't do crunches with a prolapse - too much downward pressure), and Ladybug. I also have the MORE DVD.
I would really appreciate a trainer's advice, or advice from anyone else with experience with a prolapse.
Thanks so much!

P.S. Is there anyway to create a new log-in name? NuGramma doesn't quite fit anymore ~ we're expecting our 10th grandbaby next winter! : )

Jan, I don't have any advice but wanted to bump this up so maybe some of the more seasoned trainers could give you input.
And Michelle would be the one to ask about changing your username!
Congratulations on the 10th grandbaby on the way!
