Callie, I was so surprised---and encouraged that you feel like I am doing well. The gain came on gradually. I have been consuming about equal amounts of protein and starches, so now I am going to up the starches. Eating those buttery mashed potatoes will be like being in diet heaven.
Also, is it okay to continue overfeeding even if that initial month is over. It seems like it's more important to listen to our bodies than to restrict ourselves by the calendar, right? If my temperatures have not yet risen, if I'm still getting hungry between meals, then I must continue, only more diligently.
Thank you so much Callie!

Yes, I am working out consistently and listening to my body as to how much I do.
The check-in sounds like a good idea. Would the temp be the first morning one or the average of the whole day?

you can compare your morning temps to morning temps or afternoon to afternoon. Although if you are dealing with adrenals they may be all over the place so it may not be easy to tell until they become stabilized.

Hey Ladies,
This is a timely blog entry from one of my fave Bloggers--AnnMarie Michaels of Cheeseslave; very timely and encouraging: http://www.cheeseslave.com/if-you-ha...ead-this-post/
Actually, I have to laugh; the topic of this post is exactly what I discussed in my entry early this morning. And no, I didn't copy...this was just posted to my FB page around an hour ago; I guess good minds think alike!

Adrianne, does this mean you've been working out throughout the whole month of RRARF? No R&R?? If so, you might want to consider heeding Matt's admonition to rest and relax, and see if that doesn't bring up your temps. I know (from way before RRARF) that when I exercise, my temps drop and become wonky, which is a component of the adrenal dysfunction. Even 15 minutes of T-Tapp depletes my cortisol enough to cause major fluctuations in my temps. Except for two weeks ago during the retreat in Safety Harbor, I've been utilizing the R&R component...With relish!
Well...I admit to "cheating" and doing the occasional 10 rounds of East-West Breathing or using Mitten Chops to lift my chest as I'm going about my day.

Hi Susan! I feel like I've spent the day with you. Actually, I ordered the metabolism package and have been busy reading and listening a good part of the day. The rest of the time I was busy eating, ha ha! I am still trying to recover from all of the food I put away today. I could barely fit supper in! My temp this morning was 97.3. Hope I can start moving it upward.
Interesting that you mentioned that exercising causes your temps to drop. I've experienced the same thing. My temps typically go down to about 95 degrees after exercising. Now, that is scary. I just listened to Matt's exercise CD where he also mentions this issue. It was very informative.
Yes, I have been exercising consistently during the past month. I focus on short workouts and lots of stretching. I really like Warm-Up #1 when I am not up to anything more demanding. The reason I have continued with Tapping is that I simply feel miserable if I go without it for any length of time. I get all stiff and tight and out of alignment, so for me it's basic survival. But that's what I love about T-Tapp. Teresa provides so many options that you can customize your workout to what's best for you.
And I do "relish"" not doing more demanding workouts during this time period. Who knows, I may continue this way indefinitely!
Just noticed that you are also in North Carolina. I am in the Charlotte area. Are we neighbors?

Hi ladies, I have a question, I have been taking my morning temps via my underarm for the week and it ranges between 97.6 and 97.7. Now I have not started eating rrarf, but I keep thinking those numbers are pretty good already. Could I ask you all what your morning temps are???
Also, when eating rrarf, I understand that you are suppose to eat more starch, like rice, potatoes, or sweet potatoes, with less protein...what is the veggie ratio to all this. I guess I still don't understand it all, and yes, I did read the ebook....unfortunately I have an extremely poor memory and can not retain information. I see that Matt Stone said something about bad memories, just can't remember what he said!!
Anyway, I was just wondering what everyones temps began with and I know Calgirl gave an example of her eating, I was hoping others could give examples too, as I seem to do best when I see what others are doing. Not sure if this makes sense or not...hope it does.
Thanks,
Donna

Veggies are excellent for helping reverse insulin resistance along with the starchy carbs. Your morning temps are actually pretty close to optimal. 97.8-98.2 is the healthy range so you could probably optimize your metabolism fairly quickly. Remember this also helps if you have any adrenal issues or insulin resistance as well as a host of other symptoms. As far as how much to eat, still eat good servings of protein but so many people tend to over do it. The body can easily maintain muscle on much less protein than is commonly recommended and as you increase starches the body requires less protein to maintain muscle as well. If you have room after going for it with the starches eat the veggies too. Of course after the first 30 days it should look more like close to equal protein starches and veggies with plenty of good fat added in.
Raising your temp and getting in the good food with no macro restrictions will help with the memory. It's often getting the combo of protein carbs and fat that triggers healing. Example- I was eating tons of protein and fat with seriously driedskin once I added the carbs my dry patches started to disappear. I needed it all together to get the benefits.
My morning temps were quite low when I started rrarf like in the 96's now they are mid to high 97s. But still not as stable as I would like

Callie, thank you soooo much for all your help. You know in my quircky way of thinking, as I have been taking my morning temps for appx a month, off and on, while my temps have been in the 97ish area, I kept telling my self...see I'm fine, I don't have to raise my temps. I never made the connection that my metabolism still needed to be fixed (even though I'm 35lbs overweight). Yeah, I know, not very smart thinking.
I do not know if I have adrenal issues or insulin resistance (is there a way to tell if one has these issues) but it is really beginning to make sense now how this way of eating is the answer to helping me feel my best.
Thank you all,
Donna
