Default Applying T-Tapp Principles to Bike Riding

As a recent graduate of Renew University, I am more aware of applying T-Tapp principles to my daily life. Therefore, I am wondering how to ride a bike T-Tapp style???

My husband bought me a bicycle a couple years ago, but one of the children's friends broke it. so, it has been sitting in the garage. The good news is that he just got it fixed for me this past week! So, I am determined to "re-learn" how to ride a bike! You see, I have only been on a bike a handful of times over the past 25 years (of being pregnant or having a baby most of the time). So, I feel a bit awkward on my bike! But, now that I'm back on one, my question is . . . how do I apply T-Tapp techniques to riding a bike? It seems that I am hunched over the handlebars with my shoulders slouched forwards and my belly pooched out. I feel like this is reinforcing my poor posture habit. Any suggestions???

    THANKS!
    Elizabeth

Yes I'd love to get some ideas for this too! I love riding my bike! What type of handle bars do you have? Are you sitting straight up or moderately bent over or totally bent over? My guess is keeping the back straight and core engaged is important.

Man, I rode with my hubby last summer. He's going along no problem. I am curling my core and tightening my abs and jazzing my feet. I'm complaining about how tired I am. He wanted to know what the problem was. I told him I was doing the tapping thing. He totally understood.

So, yes, I am interested also. It would be good to know if I was doing it right or not.

I am 59 and stronger than I have ever been and more than ready for this next stage of life. I plan on keeping my muscle strength, bone strength and flexibility through t-tapp way into my 90's. Think of all the fun I am going to have the next 30 years!!

Well, curling the core, pull belly button to spine, try hanging on to the bars underhanded (and instead of hunching, bend forward from the waist, keeping abs engaged and lats tight!)

That's how I am able to ride--my handlebars allow me to sit nearly upright and tall in the seat, must be the style. I try to do ribs up even if I have to bend forward--just like in T-Tapp!

    HTH!

Hopefully we'll get more input here!

I wanted to ask the same question only a week ago
From my experience, I sit almost upright, whenever I put my shoulders back, I feel my lats tight. Which is amazing to me because this was the first time I ever felt my lats Oh, yeee! So now, I try to sit as upright as possible, with shoulders back, butt tuck and KLT. I have to take often breaks but hope it will get better soon.
