Metabolism Miracle
I haven't been on in a while, but have been reading some very interesting books over the past 6 months. The latest, but by all means, not the least interesting, is Metabolism Miracle. I, in fact, find this probably the BEST book that is helping me. I agree with the Schwartsbein Principle also, but after 6 months of pretty munch eating healthy, sleeping better, no toxins, exercise, etc. I feel like I can go beyond that. I really need to lose the weight and keep my blood sugars on even keel.
In all of the books, websites and videos that I have researched, including GM/MM, They all suggest WHOLE foods. I have dropped the processed foods for 6 months. I have lost 47 pounds and feel so much better.
Metabolism Miracle works with those of us that yo-yo and may have insulin resistance. Her start up is to rest the liver and pancreas for 8 weeks and then start with the next level of carb introduction until you lose what you want and then you go to step 3 where you introduce the next amount of carbs, etc. Her premise is that about 1/2 the population has the metabolism (A) that is what the medical establishment considers "everyone" to have, and then the other 1/2 has a metabolism that probably most of us on t-tapp have - Metabolism B. She gives lists of symptoms, etc and history into this. Examples of patients including herself.
We have tried it "all" and it (fat) always seems to come back. I plan on it to NEVER come back no matter what it takes for the rest of my life. I hope that this woe will help me get my system back on track. I'll follow the Schwartzbein Principle to an extent and also probably eat whole foods for as long as I can. I can't wait for summer and all the farmers' markets!
I found the book at the local library, which if you have a library try there first. I liked many of the books I checked out that I ended up purchasing them used on Amazon.com for a fraction of the cost new. Now I have my "health" library at home. As time goes on, I will post back on this thread and let you know how my health and weight are coming along. Since starting MM on March 1, I have lost 2 lbs in a week. Since my heaviest when I first found t-tapp 3.5 years ago, I've lost 59 lbs! But most of it this past fall.

I know the book and it impressed me a lot but personally, I find the initial 8 week plan to be pretty challenging

It is like South Beach Phase I for 8 weeks? South Beach only requires 2 weeks to clean the system and to learn to read label on hidden carbs. I personally did 4 weeks 6 years ago, as I was not seriously carb dependent and addicted. I have friends who are more carb dependent, and totally cannot handle more than 3 days without being completely miserable.
Actually, Pericone Diet is like the Organic or God Made Superfood South Beach Phase II, that might be a diet to consider.

Well, literally I have been "low"carbing for over 6 months. I am working on keeping my blood sugar in normal range and so from my research it is best to keep off of the "white flour/sugar" stuff and so that has been completely gone since early Sept. I have done some carbs like small amounts of brown rice, sprouted breads/tortillas, and now I found a 4 net carb tortilla for this Stage 1 of the MM. I haven't been doing "high" protein as I don't want to damage my kidneys (put a strain on them), so I eat pretty balanced - like the Schwartzbein Principle.
I was THE carbaholic/chocoholic/sugarholic person before I began this journey. I can't even look at carbs and sugar the same way anymore. I'm working on getting the family off of it as much as possible. I thought it would be hard, but actually it has been easier than I thought.
My cholesterol numbers are now in "optimal" range and I'm in normal range with my blood sugars.
Talk later
