    Default New and Excited!

(Tried posting earlier but it didn't end up on the message boards. Any idea why?)

Anyway, I wanted to introduce myself to the T-Tapp forum community. I am starting this journey and I will not stop til I see results and reach my goals.

I am a college senior studying accounting in Portland, OR and I am very active on campus with a business fraternity and working a campus job. Right now I am in the process of getting into a graduate program!

I have been juggling a lot these last few years not just with living on my own but also with losing my mother just after heading to college. I've let school and my mourning get in the way of taking care of myself - mentally and physically. I am determined to stop this immediately! I decided this just about a week ago. And I am still so excited to see the changes within myself.

My physical goal is to be strong and healthy inside and out. For measurements sake, my goal is to drop from a 18/20 to a 10 (maybe an 8?).

I want to focus on this particular goal because I want to look and feel my best for the following events:
Trip home to Hawaii December 14th
    Trip to Austin March 19th
    Graduation June 10th (i think)

The last one being the most important.... I want my diploma to mean that I achieved so much more than just grades. I want it to mean that I have growing to be the best me. And part of that is taking control of my health and fitness.

I ordered the T-Tapp book last week and I am hoping to get it before Thanksgiving because I am so ready to get started!

I want to order the DVDs but I am the usual cash strapped college kid eating rice and ramen noodles. So the book will have to do for now.
For now I am going to use some of the other fitness DVDs I have and keep blogging until the book arrives.
I've also been frequenting the success stories page to keep me motivated!

I am joining this forum to get answers, advice, and support from awesome people - and I hope to give that back as well. I can't wait to get my book!

In the meantime, I think I will try some of the free moves that are posted.
    Can't wait!

    >>One question! I wan't to be apart of some kind of challenge where we keep each other accountable. Where can I find one of these to join?

I forgot another question I had...

Can someone recommend where to start off on the exercises?
And is PBS included in the book?

It seems that there are so many options - where is it best to start?

    WELCOME!
Yes, PBS is in the book.

    Here is a great thread.

And this might help you if you can’t afford a DVD right now – workout sequence from “Try Before You Buy"

Good luck with your goals! You can do this!

Try before you buy is good, pay attention to the exercise sequence on the book, the sequence of the move gives the best results. In addition, when you get the book, there is a free DVD included, do those moves (Hoe Down, Organ In Place are included). If you don't do anything else, the most essential moves are PBS and Hoe Down. Master these two along with Organ in Place.

You will need to master tuck butt and Knee to Little Toe (KLT), read the book and analyse it.

I am an accountant too, what master program are you going into?

One caution, T-Tapp builds muscles, good nutrient and protein is required, Rice and Ramen is not going to give your the nurition need to support muscle gain and weight loss. When you do not have enough nutrient, water consumption, sleep, you are less likely to lose weight effeciently. Also, stress will also affect weight loss.

PBS is the first move in the book.

When you have money, I recommend to order Tapp Core ($10), it contains 9 moves, you just need the book to figure out how to configurate it to your exercise routine if you cannot afford Total workout.

Welcome Antonea! Glad you've joined us here. You've already gotten some good advice. You are wise to start taking care of yourself now. I would add to also sign up for the free TappCore giveaways. It happens 3x a month but you must keep signing up. You'll find this on the home page. There are several different support groups on the forum, Habit Formers is one of them. The forum recently had a makeover so sometimes things still don't work as they should. Good luck on your goals & come back often. There's tons of information on the forum & web site.

Oat, barley, rice and bean, along with eggs could be very affordable and nuritional rich. Any of the first 3 combined with beans (being eaten during the same day) can make the incomplete protein in beans complete. Soy and Lentil are complete protein by itself, so as Quoina. These are all items you can get inexpensively in bulk. Cook a big pot in chili or curry could be quite time saving and they are way better than Ramon noodles. Eggs are not evil, they are the most affordable good nuritions. Onion, celery, carrots, brocoli, cabbage, garlic are all quite inexpensive, and they give your a lot of essential vitamins. If you drink soda, tea or coffee, save the money and invest in protein and vegetables, that money is going to give more bang for your bucks health wise and nurition wise. Plain water is a lot better to you than your weight loss.

Welcome Antonea! I agree with all the tips you've already received!

You'll get a 30% coupon with the book. I saved my change for 3 months and used the coupon to buy TWO and SATI!

I started with the book--it is harder, and until you get the moves down will take longer than 15 minutes! LOL! Do you know anyone that could loan you a dvd until you can afford one? If not, that's okay! Between the book, Try Before You Buy and reading the Must Read Threads for additional form tips, you can do it!

And yes, I would definitely sign up for the free giveaways! TappCore has 9 moves on it that are just tops and you can get a lot out of them!

Good for you for taking charge of your health and I just loved it when you said, "I want my diploma to mean that I achieved so much more than just grades. I want it to mean that I have growing to be the best me. And part of that is taking control of my health and fitness."

    That's wonderful!

Keeping coming back here for encouragement and answers! There's a 6 weeks to a New You thread where we state our goals and check in how we're doing, in an informal, chatty style!

    http://forum.t-tapp.com/showthread.p...22-Nov-28-Wk-5

(You can join anywhere in the 6 weeks--just jump in!)

There is also Habit Formers, where you just log your workouts and can earn discounts on T-Tapp products with trainer Tamara Allen who is in charge.

Again, welcome! You'll find the forums here an indispensible part of your T-Tapp Journey! HUGS!

    Welcome, Antonea,
We are always glad to see newbies join up with us on this journey to health. (I say that like I'm one of the "big kids" now, but actually just four months ago I, too, was in T-Tapp Kindergarten! ) You will find incredible support and encouragement here, as you've already seen from the previous posts. We've all gotten help here ourselves and love to pass on what we've discovered. Love your enthusiasm... you have great goals, go for it!

Started T-Tapp in July 2010 after searching for a good strengthening/stretching/flexibility workout. I think I found it!
