I have been a vegetarian, just chicken and veggies, no cheese, cheese and finally found out that it is colitis. The doctor told me eating period was the problem. My colitis has not flared up in over a year now. Due to probotics, Alfalfa, and water. I eat as clean as I can, right now in Graduate School, so I am not eating as clean as I had been. I am stressed to the max but my gi tract is fine all due to the alfalfa. My specialist wanted me to take a $900 a month prescription that he wasn't sure would work since he couldn't put me on the medication he wanted to because during testing he decided I had colitis and IBS and the medication he wanted would be bad for the colitis so he suggested this $900 month medication. I did research and found out that I needed more fiber. I had Teresa's alfalfa, I read up on all the good things it can do for you plus its fiber and I started taking it and it cleared up my flare-ups. The year preceding alfalfa my colitis flared-up 4 times that year lasting 2-3 months a stretch, with only about a week off. I had indigestion, heart-burn, I lived in the bathroom and ate hardly anything. My health and activity level has multipled 10 fold. I know it is the benefits of alfalfa which also has helped balance my hormones. I add blue algae supplement, Back to Balance, in addition to my alfalfa and my menopause symptoms went away. So thanks Teresa, I need my alfalfa to keep my digestive system humming. I am B- blood type.
Wow!!!!! SO GLAD you found relief! That is absolutely fantabulous!

    Hi Shawna,

One of the symptoms of celiac disease is jumpy legs at night. Docs almost never think to test for celiac disease— thinking it's a rare disease, but if affects one in 133 people.

Also, Quinine is supposed to help with that. Quinine can be got from tonic water, like what one mixes with gin. Hic.

Hi Anna Louise, THANK YOU! I had not considered thinking about celiac as I do not have gluten foods as a regular part of my diet, but definitely something to consider to be sure to eliminate it. But to clarify, it is leg cramps, the kind you get when you are pregnant and you take calcium for and it goes away; only I am not pregnant and I am taking enough calcium. I have narrowed it down to possibly a nutrient deficiency that is not transferring the calcium. First thought would be magnesium, but I am faithful with the mag oil foot soaks and no permanent resolution. I was reading about B12 deficiency and possibly a D deficiency, so I am working on correcting those (T-Tapp store has these in a spray). I had secretly hoped the consistent alfalfa would round out my dietary needs and elminate the leg cramps, but not yet.

Well Shawna, I sure hope you find relief. Seems like you're doing all the right things. Quinine or iodine come to mind, but I can't say why.

Default Alfalfa and auto immune disease

    Hi all / Hi Teresa,

I'm new here. Recently received my total workout package including the Alfalfa.
My body is a bit of a stickler, I have been blessed w/ several auto immune diseases. A.o. Hashimoto's Thyroid disease, which is no fun but not the baddie of the lot, therefore, I'm very careful when it comes to taking supplements or certain foods. When I researched Alfalfa on the net, I came across several reports that warn people w/ autoimmune diseases to not take alfalfa, as it may cause flares.
Anyone that would care to comment on that? I would just love to be able to take it, as my skin due to many years of prednisone use (high dosage) has become so thin...I can use every bit of help. Not to mention the wonders that menopause does for your skin Am brushing religiously....tapping away and having fun with it...but I'm a bit concerned. So is there anyone that could shed some light on this issue? I'd be very grateful to hear your two cents.

Hi Gaby. I had the same concern as I am hypo post Grave's disease. Teresa says her alfalfa is safe for autoimmune because it has just the leaves and no stems or seeds. I was leary at first but did try it and have been taking it now for about 4 months. I stay on 6 to 8 per day. I haven't had any problems so far. I have seen nice improvements in my skin, my elimination and a gereral sense of well being.
Welcome to the forums! Everyone is very helpful here so keep reading and posting. Looking forward to seeing you here!

Have you considered potassium for the leg cramps? Bananas or kiwis would really help if it's potassium.

    Same boat here, Gaby.
Many autoimmune issues and I have taken Teresa's alfalfa for 10 yrs without an issue.
I have actually been almost completely symptom free for a couple+ years now. And yes, T's alfalfa works wonders for the skin, too!
