Type AB+ here, and I can't tolerate alfalfa either. Gives me heartburn to begin with.

Hi Amy... fyi, I am a type O, so are both my parents, so are both my grandparents and I credit the Premium Blended Alfafa for helping my body stay healthy with balanced hormones, less pain and better skin. It's not a "magic pill" or herb....it's a nutritionally concentrated FOOD - plant protein that is bio-available for all blood types. When you say that it "bothers you", can you futher elaborate with specifics? Perhaps your body doesn't do well with beans (ie - digest, assimilate or eliminate well or maybe even have an allergy) In my cd seminar, "Personal Profile" I discuss a lot how genetics, blood type, body type and other factors that make each of us unique and how to work WITH your personal profile instead of against it for better health and easier weight loss/inch loss. For example, my native american, english/irish along with a little bit of german heritage ties in with my 3 generation blood type O, long torso/short leg body type. Premium Blended Alfalfa really helps balance my tendency for high blood sugar, lowers the inflammation in my lower back, helps keep my english/irish thin skin "thicker" with tone and helps keep my hormones balanced (before, during and now after menopause!) How many each day varies depending on various needs..... for example during mid-menopause I was up to 16 capsules a day....but for the past year I only need 6 to 9 a day....but sometimes I might need to increase that amount to 12 per day if I hurt..... for example, this past July, I hurt my knee pretty bad and for almost 3 weeks I took 12 capsules a day to help boost my body's ability to repair and decrease inflammation. BIG difference!

Hi Sarah32.... as an AB+ who gets heartburn with intake of alfalfa....I highly suggest that you try taking a digestive supplement each time you eat protein (even regular meals) The reason I say this is because in additional to statistical data verifying that AB blood types (both - and +) do well with alfalfa, especially with acid/alkalinity balance.... they also do well with plant sources of protein. The fact that alfalfa alone creates heartburn could be indication of an imbalance of digestive enzymes. Try drinking a bit of water with apple cider vinegar or take digestive enzymes before a meal or whenever you take vitamins or supplements (gel capules are made of protein) to help your stomach digest and not reflux. I personally like a product called Digest Platinum and I take one capsule each and every time I take my supplements or eat a meal. During menopause I developed GERD to the point that it damaged some of my teeth. I did not want to take pharmaceuticals (purple pill) or Prilosec (oc) due to multiple side effect issues, so I asked a homeopathic physician what to do. Digestive enzymes was the secret! So, maybe digestive enzymes can help you optimally digest and assimilate whatever nutritionals you take, as well as whatever food you eat.

Hope this helps clarify for both of you.

    Teresa

ps - for those of you experiencing hot flashes....try taking 3 capsules before bedtime and avoid consuming carbs or alcohol at least an hour before bedtime. It really works!

    WOW Teresa HI
I am glad you chimed in here.
I have listened to all your info and so informative.
I do find that being O the hunter gatherer is not me. Heavy meat and such do not sit well with my stomach. I take a digestive enzymes as well but meat has never been my thing. so I think with being O or anyother type there are gonna be some tweaking involved. I am so interested in the personal profile and learning how to work with your body not against it

Thank you Teresa for all you do

    Amy

    Thank you, Teresa!

I'm not very familiar with the blood type diet, however, I recently (in the last year) have changed my diet to represent a more paleo style--no grains except for the occasional rice, and more meat in addition to large amount of veggies I was already accustomed to (along with nuts, some dairy, and fruits). What a difference in my energy levels it has made! And I very much feel like my health is increasing--no more joint pain, no bloating, etc. Interestingly, when I was pregnant (suffering from hyperemesis the entire time) and could finally eat, I could only tolerate meats (at that time I was only eating poultry and seafood, no red meats) and certain veggies, I think because of acid/alkalinity balance in my body. I've never suffered from heartburn except when taking alfalfa. Mysterious...I use raw cider vinegar for lots of stuff, I guess I'll try it before meals, too. And perhaps start in on enzymes.

Thank you for asking this question and thank you Teresa for providing more good info on alfalfa! From my reading, BBB is one of the best if not the best alfalfa to take.

I am an O+ and have been taking alfalfa for two months now. I started at 6 (BBB brand) and I have been currently taking 16 per day for the past month. I had intended on cutting that down after the month was over, but so far my body still really likes it. I have not had any trouble with it. After reading about how it balances a person out, I figured that might be why my body likes it so much as I according to my age, I am in the perimenopausal era of life (46). Between changing to healthy eating and T-Tapp I had not had any noticeable symptoms, well....gray hair and lots of thinning hair. Then I added the alfalfa and I am getting hair back where it had fallen out before. That has been a real fun noticeable benefit that I can point to and say that the alfalfa had a positive impact on my hair. Also, slowly improved changes are happening with my nails. Again, a benefit that I can connect with the alfalfa.

So this is one O that is happy with her alfalfa! (Oh one tip......I would be sure to take it with LOTS of water...if you are taking a couple at a time, be sure to drink enough water so that the pills reach the stomach, could that be where the discomfort came from? I do recall in the beginning that happened to me).

Now if I can just get a handle on those leg cramps in the middle of the night I will be not just great, but TERRIFIC!

Like I talk about in the Personal Profile cd set, one cannot expect to follow the blood type diet word-for-word. I wish it were that simple! Our bodies are much more complex bio-chemically and bio-mechanically! It takes a man and a woman to create a new person ... therefore, one must not only consider what the blood type of each parent, but also their parents (grandparents)!

I believe that blood type matters somewhat, especially as one ages or becomes ill. Over the years, I've discovered that as one ages it does help to consume foods that are easier for our body to digest..... better digestion equals better assimilation and elimination. When that chain becomes less effective, weight gain occurs, weight loss becomes more difficult and our health suffers.

Try keeping a journal on what you eat and when you eat..... NOT for calorie consumption.... NOT for weight loss.... instead make notes on how you FEEL. Energy level? Digestion/elimination issues, if any? Mental clarity or groggy? Bloat/no bloat? Swelling of ankles or feet? Body temperature?

Easier weight loss or weight management is just icing on the cake.... optimal energy and health IS the secret AND MOVEMENT MATTERS!

    Good luck!

    Teresa
