Question Anyone know French Polynesia, New Zealand, Australia or Fiji

Hi all - my husband and I are planning a trip beginning in January 2011 to cover as much of the South Pacific as we can manage (as in afford). The plan is to start in French Polynesia with a visit to Tahiti, Bora Bora and Moorea, then on to New Zealand for three or four weeks, then Australia for five or six weeks, then home through Fiji. We're hoping to take 3-4 months round trip.

We want to see as much of all the places as we possibly can. We both scuba dive so we're hoping to get in a lot of that in the islands and on the Great Barrier Reef. And we plan to rent a car in both New Zealand and Australia to get into as many of those wonderful out of the way places as we possibly can.

I was wondering if anyone out in Tapplandia has any information, advice, best things to do, things to avoid or watch out for???

    Thanks

I don't really know much about it, but I remember reading on a thread about T-Tapp Travel!!
If it is operational maybe somebody from there could help you?

You can't go wrong anywhere in New Zealand. Give yourself more time for the South Island than the North Island.
It is beautiful!! I can't remember our itinerary from our trip, but I know we went to Queensland, Christchurch, Milford sound, the glacier (I can't recall the name) and the alpine railway. There were a few other places that I can't remember the name, but a new zealand guide from the library would fill in those blanks....

I really don't think there are any 'tourist traps' or dissappointments there.. We didn't get to spend as much time as we would have liked because we spent half our time visiting family on the north island.

Even though we traveled on our own, we didn't rent a car. We had travel vouchers, for buses, trains, shuttles, to get us everywhere.

Only spent a few days in the Sydney area, but got to see the blue mountains- 3 sisters, and the sydney aquarium is really neat. Do a harbor cruise and if you're adventurous and not afraid of heights the bridge climb is reallu popular. (I passed on that adventure). You are going to have a

Thanks Erika - we've been wondering about those travel vouchers. They are available for both New Zealand and Australia but they have to be bought here before we leave. It's good to know they worked well for you.

My husband wants to do that bridge climb - I"m still thinking about it!!!!

    Thanks
