Question Shingles - how to thwart onset

My hubby came home last night saying that he thinks a bout of shingles is coming on. No actual sores yet - just that preliminary feeling.

Does anyone know of a natural therapy that might stop it in its tracks?

    That totally stinks........

1000 mg L-Lysine twice a day, lots of Vitamin C and B-Complex, a probiotic and

Vitamin E oil on the skin once they start to scab over. You can't really take too much of any of these.....

I had shingles a few years ago. I had excruciating pain for nearly a month. I wish I had known what it was when it was coming on. I ended up having to use the pain patches that are normally used for cancer patients as no oral medicine would touch the pain and I was not sleeping. Even with the patches I had plenty of pain, but at least I could sleep for a few hours at a time.

Any time I feel that there is the slightest indication that the shingles are returning, I immediately start taking 1,000 to 2,000 mg. of Vitamin C plus a bioflavonoid every waking hour to bowel tolerance. Once reaching bowel tolerance, I drop to 1,000 mg. per hour or 2 hours. I also take 2,000 mg. of L-Lysine once or twice per day.

I will be interested to hear how Joan's remedy helps your husband. It may be something to keep on hand.

Hoping that your husband overcomes whatever this is quickly,
    Vi

I'd definitely have him start taking the L-Lysine right away, along with C's and B's. L-Lysine is a B vitamin used for

herpe prevention and healing, which shingles is in the same family as.

Yes, even most larger grocery or discount stores... It's just another vitamin so anywhere that sells the individual ones like E. C and B....

If you ever tend to get cold sores you should take it regularly, too.

L-lysine and C are my 2 favorite anti-virals. I've had colds that wouldn't budge and started taking high doses of vitamin C and it kicked it to the curb. L-lysine has done the same thing for me. The key for both is to take enough and often.

Hope he feels great soon! Shingles sounds really painful!
