Thread: The Gabriel Method?

  1. #1

    Default The Gabriel Method?

My friend and I are training for a 5k charity run/walk and one of the members told us about the Gabriel Method anyone heard of it for weight loss? It is about relaxation and visualization? It sounded like it may compliment the T-tapp philosophy. Just wondering, thanks!

This is what I found when googling it: http://www.gabrielmethod.com/

I have a very hard time finding his claim that Dr. ATkins yelled at him for being fat credible. That is a real turn off. I think, personally, EFT (www.emofree.com) and Brian Peskin (www.brianpeskin.com), things I am personally conversant in, are very effective and certainly, they do not bad mouth others as his little intro video did.

    Hi,

I just bought this book today after stumbling on it. I've listened to the CD once (free download when you buy the book) and read the introduction and first part of the book. So far I'm finding it very interesting and I really liked the CD. The introduction of the book spoke volumes to me. The reviews on Amazon are stellar. From what I read, I think the approach is similar to Paul McKenna's "I Can Make You Thin", or the book "Naturally Thin." I haven't actually read either of those books, but I've read other people make those comparisons.

Pamela, there are some techniques in there that sound very similar to EFT, and from what I've read the author of this book uses EFT. Techniques that are supposed to clarify your mind so that emotions don't drive you to eat, and giving your mind a chance to absorb positive thought, etc. I gathered that just from browsing further into the book.

Basically you listen to your body, but the techniques in the book are supposed to help you communicate to your body that it really wants to be thin. Once you have done that, your body will not be as hungry, crave better foods, etc. Sounds strange, but so far it is making sense to me. "Diets" try to force your body to lose weight from the outside in, using willpower, counting, combining, whatever. This method seems to work WITH your body, not against it.

I had mixed feelings about the book, but I like the visualization CD quite a lot. You listen before going to bed. At the very least, it helps me sleep.

Yes, some parts of the book I've looked at are kinda hokey, but I've listened to the CD twice, and I'm about 1/3 through the book, and my mindset is already different. I didn't want a lot of food for breakfast this morning (usually I do and it's all starch). I have a small plate with scrambled eggs and half a piece of whole grain toast, and feel that is plenty. I feel I've been in a constant battle with my body over trying to lose weight, and I think there is truth in his assertion that you need to use the power of your mind to make your body WANT to lose it.

    This method sounds like self-hypnosis - ??

Meredith, keep us posted! Sounds like something good is happening already.

Well, not self-hypnosis, but there are a lot of visualization techniques which I think make it kind of similar to EFT. He has a website at www.gabrielmethod.com

You can buy the book and CD there, but Amazon has the book in paperback for much cheaper, and at least right now you can download the CD for free on his website after you have the book.

sounds interesting! I will check out the book.

I thought you could download the book for free on his site. But then I saw this:

Please enter the LAST word on page 50 of your Gabriel Method book:

Yeah, to get the MP3 download of the CD you have to have that last word. I wouldn't feel right posting it here, but I'm thinking it's a pretty sure bet that Google knows it. Google knows everything.

    AHEM.
