Default Question about fitting in Full Workouts

I am wanting to challenge myself and switch to Track 2 on HFers. My dilemma is between homeschooling, teaching piano from my home part time, and my dh's schedule, I am having a hard time fitting 3 full workouts in EOD. If I have, for example, LB standing one day, and LB floor the next, but my other full workout is two days later, will that still put me in danger of overtraining? I don't want to sabotage myself!!! [:0]

I am playing around with scheduling, but if anyone has suggestions, please let me know! Right now I am splitting TWO up into two days because of the time constraints, so I wasn't "counting" that as a full workout for HFers, since I didn't do it in one day. I've tried to do part in the morning part in the evening, but I just cannot count on that happening consistently.

Here are the workouts I have:

    TWO
    SATI
    HTFS/HTF
    LB workout
MORE 4 in 1 (the new one)
    Tempo Arms

And I'm tempted to buy the new Tempo 2 with the newsletter discount! I know Kirsten--and others! have said that we should be doing TWO (B/R I assume?) at least once a week, as it is the foundation of T-Tapp--and I agree! But I don't know if Tempo 2 is considered the same as doing the Total workout (since it does move faster).

Any help is greatly appreciated! Basically Monday and Tuesday I have to keep it short (Tuesday has to be under half an hour) because I have morning students, and Sundays are my day off. Nothing like spicing things up for a challenge! I know many of you fit this in with even more challenges than I have. I guess my main concern was if I did two full workouts back to back, that I don't burn out and sabotage myself.

    TIA for any help!

Trisch, I think this is very individual. You might have to try it and see. I often do this and then take a couple days off depending on what my schedule is like for the week. For example, I have an insanely busy day tomorrow and would rather not work out on Sundays if it can be avoided, so I will do another full workout this afternoon even though I did one yesterday. I know that I will be okay with it, but only you can tell if it is right for you.

    Hi Trisch,
I wanted to pop in to say that (IMO) HTF and SATI back-to-back is a great full workout that isn't too long or overwhelming (and the neurokinetic awareness from doing HTF first really helps keep me tucked/tightened during SATI). I too have been debating whether or not to upgrade to Track 2, but was concerned about the commitment. But looking at my schedule over the last couple of weeks, I realized I was fitting in 3 full workouts anyway. Combining the short routines seems to make it easier for me to get the full workouts in.

I don't think doing a full workout two days in a row will hurt you. EOD is better, but hey, we have to apply this to our lives. I know you'll do short workouts most off days. HF is what you get done in a week. I have squeezed mine in late in the week (everyday) when the beginning was hectic or I've been ill.

Ultimately it is what keeps the inches going. You'll know if you're not seeing a decrease, therefore you'll know it's time to change things again.

I, too, think that doing a full workout 2 days in a row is fine. We have to do what our schedules allow. I don't think you'd be over training because you would either be taking the next day off or doing a short workout. You should try it and see how it works. And Tempo 2 is at a faster pace, but it is a total workout. Good luck whatever your endevours.

Thanks so much, everyone! I think I make things too hard on myself sometimes! [:I] I tend to think a thing to death! I just didn't want to commit to track 2 and find I couldn't keep it up logistically.

I realized that every other week my schedule is lighter, so I think I will plan to do the whole TWO on those weeks, to keep from breaking it up, then maybe do TA or another full workout in it's "place" on the crazy weeks. At least I'd be getting B/R in every other week. I might spring for the Tempo 2 with the newsletter discount!

    Thanks again!

Trisch - I just wanted to pop in and say - I am now doing the Tempo2 (8 repetitions) workout and it is not actually 39 minutes long (even though that is what the DVD says on the front) - it is 49 minutes long and some of the moves on the new Tempo2 DVD are actually done more slowly than on BR! You don't need to worry about it "going too fast." It is a very good workout, and a little more challenging than B/R (and great form reminders throughout) and I'm glad I got it - but I had been hoping that having a 40 minute workout would help me squeeze in the long workouts. That's why I bought Tempo2, because I thought it was shorter. I know it sounds silly to some, but ten minutes shorter makes a big difference in my day (and I'll bet yours as well).

I too am in the situation of needing to do two long workouts a week back-to-back, in order to bump up to three a week. For me M,T and TH, F are my best days for working out - so to get in three somewhere there is going to be two in a row. I think I'll try and see if I have a problem with it. I might have to wait another week or two - right now I am so sore the day after doing Tempo2, that I'm hesitant to do another one right away! Whew! []

    Sara,

Thanks so much for letting me know about Tempo 2! Although yes, I was hoping for a bit shorter--although I guess 49 minutes is still shorter than the 55 of B/R!!! And due to a potty break or two and other interruptions it usually takes 1 hr 5 minutes or even 15 extra minutes!

That will probably be part of my order with the wonderful newsletter discount! It's always hard to decide what to get! []
