Default Need Flat Stomach sequence form advice?

Could you give me some tips, or refer me to a link, for doing the Flat Stomach sequence correctly (OIP,HF, Elevators)? (Lanette's description in For All T-tappers is great for understanding the process, but it doesn't addres form).

I can really feel it when I do OIP, but I have a hard feeling anything when I do the exercise section (HR/EL).

I should be pushing my elbows down, keeping shoulders back, tightening up the back, tightening the abs, trying to pull them into the spine, keeping the lower back pressed down, and tightening the buttocks. Most of this is familiar to me, as I have done pilates for a few years now, yet I'm still not feeling it. Suggestions?

You have Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes? If so, review the OIP/HF sequence on the DVD in the back of the book.

Even though you may not be mentally connecting with those muscles just yet, THINK about connecting to them/feeling them. The message will travel a bit further each time and one day you will have an "Aha! So that's what that feels like." Another thing to try it to cough after you dig into the abdomen; you'll feel the muscles under your fingers.

Thanks Kristen. Maybe I need time for the "aha". I have been using the DVD at the back of Fit and Fabulous. Unfortunately, the book doesn't give any form points or common mistakes for that segment. I have followed the DVD, both the instructional and regular segments, and it's not quite clicking yet.

    Thank for you thoughts.

Just a thought --- because it was an issue for me and because you didn't mention it..... Are you tucking? A good strong tuck, on the up and the down, turns elevators into bun-burners for me. Another tip that adds intensity for me is pressing the big toe ball joint into the floor while keeping big toe up. []

Great ideas ladies. Thanks. I tried some of the ideas last night, and I did notice a tiny difference. So I'm hoping I'm at the beginning of "getting" it. Thanks all!
