MyCelia....Can I ask some more questions?
Hi There,
I just checked on my tribbles and I have 3 of them that are the size of a half dollar, BIG!
Should I maybe get 3 or 4 separate containers to put the grains into?
Thanks!

Hi Mary Ann,
Do you mean for storing them? No, one glass quart mason jar is sufficient to hold those extras. When you get about a cup's worth of extra grains, that's when I'd start a second extras jar.
If you mean for culturing (and I think you culture with about 2 cups of milk, right?), I'd put two of those monsters away in your extras jar in the fridge and split apart one grain into two pieces to continue culturing your 2 cups of milk. Hope that helps!

Hey There,
There is 5 in my family so I am going to need to make quite a bit. So I should just keep on culturing the Kefir with all the grains in it?
Thank you again so much for all your help.

Ahh, in that case, yes, keep culturing with all your grains. How long has it been since you received your grains, BTW? If they're close to the end of their transition period and have fully adjusted then you could increase your milk amount to at least 4 cups with the amount of grains you're using. Also, since your grains are so big, you should split them all in half.

I got my grains on Wednesday. I am currently using skim and thinking of maybe upping to 1 or 2% would they have to go through a change again? If so, I'll just stick with the milk I am using for now.
So when I change the milk next I should split them in half but keep them in the same container?
Thanks!

Personally, I'd use at least 1-2% milk and any added time to the transition will be negligible. That said, one person here (can't remember who) has said that she cultures just fine with skim milk. However, I've also read that some who did culture with skim milk didn't get the desired results they wanted. Bottom line, up to you.
And yes, just before you add the fresh milk to your next batch, split those babies up.

You're so sweet[:X]
So when I split them up, should I keep them in the same container?
Thanks!

You're the best! And yes, I believe our tribbles are related
