    Default weighted shoes

I have a couple of questions for you veteran t-tappers out there. I have been contacted by the trainer in my area to attended the seminar in Tampa. I am really considering it but since I am fairly new to t-tapp I am concerned if I can keep up for four days. I am also getting ready to order the meta trek shoes. Do they run true to size and is it my understanding that with these shoes when you do your workout your butt is tuck for you and you just need to worry about klt's? Thanks ladies.

No, I believe that's a misconception on doing the butt tuck for you, in my opinion. Yes, they are a tad bit lower in the heel than a regular shoe but you still have to REALLY tuck to get the most out of the workout. A butt tuck goes much deeper than *any* shoes can do for you. And Knee to Little Toe is not even addressed with Metatreks. So you still have to tuck harder, squeeze tighter and push knee to little toe. They are great, heavy shoes, but I'm not sure that it's a big benefit for a newbie. Taking a walk around the neighborhood or going for a little hike in them is faboo. But working out in, not so much.

As for sizing, I went 1/2 size smaller than Sketchers and was perfect. There have been many threads on sizing you can search if you don't get much feedback.

No worry about keeping up in Tampa. There are newbies, veterans, injured and so on... Everyone is just trying to pay attention to Teresa themselves, keep the trainers off their backs and not worried about what else is going on. Everyone stops for water or to kick it out as needed. You'll learn SO much and have a blast, too!

Now, I'm really confused. Teresa says that very thing several times on the SATI dvd. That with the Meta Treck shoes you don't have to worry about tucking your butt because the shoes do that and to focus on keeping your feet straight. What to believe?

I am a new owner of MT's. FIrst off, my shoe size changed since starting T-Tapp. Luckily I did not buy any new workout shoes until the size change. It took about a year. Went from an 8 1/2 to 7 1/2. Crazy huh? I didn't plan to wait it just worked out that way. I am wearing a size 7 1/2 in all my shoes including MT's so I guess I would say they fit true to size.

I respect the added weight and use them only for the following workouts so as not to jeopardize form: SATI, SITTM, Weighted Shoe workout, HTFS, and BWO+ (I read in the forums after doing a search that Teresa approved that so you didn't have to change shoes to move to HTFS afterwards), and sometimes TEMPO Arms since the only lifting of the legs is at the end with Hoe Downs.

In doing the stepping workouts I do find that it helps with the tuck but I still make sure that I am focusing on all of the form tips and don't just focus on shoulders back and tighten lats. So again to reiterate it helps tuck you naturally but to get the most for your workout I tuck more and think about no big toe KLT to get the biggest bang for my buck!

    Hope that helps.

**Let me just edit to say that I feel I am a strongger tapper and have had several classes with a trainer, so use your judgement as to when to Tapp with your MT's beyond the stepping workouts.

    Lizzie,

Yes. Teresa used to wear those I think prior to the arrival of Metatreks.... and I think they've made improvements so you can change up the amount of weight in the shoe a bit (two different sets of weights, I believe). Lots of Tappers have the older Nikkens and use them still.

    BIG HUGS!

HI! I know this is an older post but I wanted to give my 2cents. I bought some nikkens and it made a big difference for me. I love mine! I have always taken pics and was so discouraged a few weeks back. But my daughter said to take a new pic and compare. We did. Since getting and using the weighted shoes my butt really changed. They worked for me. Hope that helps making the decision to get some.
