How do you get baked on burned food out of a pot?
I burned the bottom of a pot. I was cooking dried fruit and when the water boiled out it burned the bottom of the pot. It's both food and burnt. I tried Brillo pads and it didn't help. Any ideas?

Dishwasher soap. Some hot water in there with a tablet of dishwasher gunk (like electrasol or the like) and let it sit before scrubbing. From experience, it works.
I've heard too that you can put a couple of dryer sheets in there, with some hot water, and let it soak, too, but I've not personally tried that one.
Best of luck!

You know you want to...P-L-A-Y. Come on, push it. You can do it.

I read somewhere fill the pot with water and boil the water and the food should come out. I've tried it and it worked.
GOOD LUCK!

The two ideas above will definitely work -
and also, Dawn Power Dissolver (spray) works wonders!

Put a layer of baking soda in the bottom and a couple inches of water. Bring to a boil...and watch it here...it tends to bubble up and over. Let it cool...Burned food should come right out.
Good Luck,

My grandma swears by adding a cup of vinegar and water and slowly boiling it on a stove ... it may require a tad bit of elbow grease to get it all off but, I use a mr clean magic eraser to help.
Good luck.

I usually use baking soda too.

Put the pot into a trash bag...pour 1/4 cup ammonia into the bag with the pot and tie the bag up tightly. Let sit overnight. The burned on food will wash out easily the next day. I've used this method on oven racks and broiler pans.

Dawn Power Dissolver rocks! I use that on bakeware that has crevices in it and food gets baked into those crevices making it almost impossible to clean. That stuff makes it wash out so easily and better than soaking etc.

Yep, I vote for the Power Dissolver, too! Spray it on and walk away. When you come back, it'll wash right off. (And it doesn't smell strong or like chemicals, either!)
