    Default Question about flip-flops

Okay, this may sound weird, but has anyone cut off the little plastic tube that comes on some pairs of flip-flops? It covers the piece of fabric that goes between your toes. I find the plastic is irritating my skin. Does anyone know why the plastic is there?

    Thanks, Sue

Hi Sue! I have LOTS of flip flops. But none have had the plastic there. I don't know what it is there for. If it were me, I would cut it off too! Maybe it is so the fabric doesn't rub your toes?!

    Hi Sue!

I don't know anything about flip flops, but just wanted to say "hello" and put my dopey 2 cents in. I'm guessing if the thing that goes between your toes is fabric, the plastic might be to lengthen its life. So, if it bugs you, take it off.

Have you seen the yoga sandals in the Gaiam catalog? There are "thingies" that separate all the toes. I'm thinking this might be a good thing to get - keep those toes engaged and stretched.

Also, I was just thinking of you this morning, wanting to ask you a Bach remedy question. Any recommendations for ADD?

Take care, enjoy sandal-wearing weather [8D]

I thought the plastic was there to protect you from other people's germs who tried on the flip-flops, so you were supposed to take it off when you get the flip-flops home. Like that adhesive strip on the crotch of swimming suits.

quote:It is also worth mentioning that some flip flops have been fitted with plastic tubes on the toe straps, this is to protect the soft skin in between your toes, but some of our customers have found that it is more comfortable to take this tube off. This can be done by cutting down the length of the tube with a pair of nail scissors."

I always take it off, it kinda bugs me too. About the yoga toe shoes, I have some I got them from www.unshoes.com and they really help with my bunions, I have been searching for a non-surgical way to help with that and it has done wonders! It does hurt the first few times til you get use to them but, it feels good after that. It also helps with circulation and other problems with the feet.

Wow! Thanks for the quick replies ladies. I'm going to cut off the plastic for comfort! Interesting point about the 'germ' aspect. I'm lucky never to have had athlete's foot, something that can be pretty painful. I also agree that it may be extending the life of the fabric, kind of like plastic on the lampshades.

Brook and Allie....big hi's and hugs to you both. Will always have fond thoughts of our on-line class. I don't think I could do the sandles with multiple toe-thingies. I can handle one between the big toe, but that's it. I've had the odd pedicure, and I even cringe when they weave the cotton batting between your toes before applying polish.

Brook, I'll pop you an e-mail within the week re: Bach and ADD. We received a group e-mail a few months back asking for success stories on just this topic. So I will check with Bach USA to see if they got some good feedback. I do have one practitioner friend that has had success and will be in touch with her also. Allie, that's great to hear about your interest in the flowers. Any questions, please pop me an e-mail....I've also been studying EFT and finding the combination of the two to be really interesting especially with hard to shift cases!

    Cheers all, Sue [8D]

The plastic piece is designed to reduce friction and prevent blisters. Nothing to do with germs...

On sandals without it, I have sewn on my own version using a small piece of bias tape. It really soes make them more comfortable.
