I know what I'm about to write may not be great news to a lot of people. Before starting t-tapp in late August, I was a loyal FIRMie: I did aerobics alternating with heavy weights. I had FIRMed for 10 years, and considered myself in good shape. I had also been on the Pill most of that time.
About 2 1/2 years ago I went off the Pill to try to get pregnant, but kept working out as before. I had no menstrual cycle at all and underwent several months of expensive fertility treatments to no avail. All my doctors said my workouts were not causing me to have no cycle or affecting my fertility in any way. Nevertheless in April, 2000, we adopted my son, who is the light of my life next to my wonderfully supportive husband.
I started t-tapp because some people on the FIRM forum raved about it, and I was looking for something quick and simple so I couold spend more time with my son. I lost 5 pounds doing the begginer's workout alone. I realize that this may have been muscle that I lost. I stuck with it, though I didn't lose any more weight, because I liked having more free time. I have maintained my weight with t-tapp 2 1/2 times a week despite a diet that would embarass me to print it. Let's just say I've been eating a lot of chocolate.
I should add that my husband and I just started the process to adopt a second child.
Anyway, about 2 weeks I ago I started thinking I was flabbier than I'd like to be. I though about going back to the FIRM or alternating it with t-tapp, when suddenly on Tuesday I got my period. I have been off the Pill since February and had NO CYCLE AT ALL. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN 12 1/2 YEARS I'VE HAD A NATURAL PERIOD!!!
I can only assume it's the t-tapp reconstructing my body composition to include more fat. I admit that I don't look as cut as I used to, but if it means that my body is acting like it's supposed to, I'm sticking with it!
I just had to share.
