    Default Grapefruit and Kidney disease?

Has anyone heard that grapefruit is bad for someone with kidney disease, or with only one Kidney? My friend was asking be about this, as she has just had a kidney removed. It was my understanding that Grapefruit is Alkaline, so it would be good for her.

    Thanks!

I know that grapefruit can interfere with some medications. I don't know about any anti rejection medications. But I would recommend your friend talk to her doctor about these issues. Those are very legit concerns.

With just a quick Google search, I found that eating grapefruit with these two kidney medications is a no-no. Enalapril and Felodipine, there's probably more. Always a good idea to research any medications you're taking and interactions with food any other drugs including over the counter.

Also found that grapefruit is fine with kidney disease.

So I would guess, you need to know if she's on any medications.

www.kidney.org looks like a lot of reliable information....
