? for progesterone cream users

Are you self-diagnosed/self medicated or did you see a doctor for diagnosis and prescription?

If self-diagnosed....what cream do you use and how did you determine dosage?

It was suggested to me that I use a natural progesterone cream from a Naturapath ..so that was when I found Arbonne's Phyto-Prolief. It's a metered dispenser so 1 pump equals 1/4 teaspoon and it's recommended you use 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon daily.

Get Dr. John Lee's book "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopuase" ...it's an awesome read!

I also have Arbonne's Prolief. I've only used it a few times. It was recommended to me for mood swings related to hormonal fluctuations.

It was recommended to me to use during my pregnancy by the Arbonne lady, but my midwife said she couldn't find sufficient info to say it was safe during pregnancy, so I discontinued it.

I know I wasn't of much help, but thought I'd throw out that tidbit of info (and the product name again).

I'm hestitant to say self diagnose. This is a hormone, and it is best to use on the advice of a physician who has tested you for the need.

Hormones should not be used w/o medical guidance in my opinion.

In regards to Arbonne's Phyto-Prolief or Prolief, they are both NOT to be used while pregnant or nursing.

Thanks, I've ordered the books by Dr. John Lee. I really think the cream might help me, but I'm always hesitant to try new things. Not pregnant and no chance of it. Had a hysterectomy 7 years ago that took my uterus, but still have the ovaries.

I have just finished my first cycle using progesterone cream and was very pleased- no sobbing or excessive sweating! The only problem I'm having is that I have acne on my neck like a 16 year old boy! Nothing that I'm doing is getting rid of it. Anyone else experience this?

I know I saw immediate results for some things using the Phyto-prolief and others took longer ..but they did all subside. If you ARE using the Arbonne version, pay the consultant fee so you can get it at a discount! That's what I did .

Marcy - should be NO problem using a natural progesterone cream having had a hysterectomy.

Regina - for the acne - try using a solution of Apple Cider Vinegar & Water (50/50) as a toner and swipe the area on your neck (where the acne is). The natural antiseptic qualities in the ACV will help with the acne. What could be happening is that your hormones are leveling out. Hopefully the acne will go away in time and not come back.

Dr John Lee's book is outstanding for understanding female hormones, if you can make it thru all the biochemical medical terminiology.
I believe the book lists labs you can order saliva testing thru to determine your progesterone levels. Probably available on his website, too (Google it).

I've used it for many years since my fertility specialist told me my progesterone level was "low." Unfortunately I never did manage to get pregnant. Now that I'm in menopause stages & use an estrogen skin patch it's essential to use progesterone whenever estrogen is added.
