Hey Pen, Bren, Louise, Lizzy Joy, and others. I am off to do my workout here, but wanted to commit to eating healthy another day. It has become a lifestyle for me and I ask God for the strength each day to do what I need to do to be healthy and food just be fuel to me...I have used it for so many other reasons, but I know that it is just intended for us to survive so we can enjoy life!

Lizzy Joy- I do the Zone and that works best for me. I don't eat processed foods- as they were triggers for me- and once I cut them out for good, it wasn't that hard. It is just what I do now and I love what I do. If you have any questions feel free to ask, I don't mind sharing what I do (although it seems strict to some, it really works for me). I think that is the hard part finding what works for us as individuals since it is different for everyone. I am just grateful that I found what works for me and I love helping others find what works for them. It's usually a process of trial and error, but you can get there if you keep trying.

    Happy New Year's to all,
    Marie

Hey, Marie!! Good for you!!! That is so good that you've found something that works for you and LOVE it and can stick to it. I know that eating more natural foods make me feel better; I've just got to learn how to turn down those temptations.

I've had 1.5 days of good eating so far! My workouts start again tomorrow (Mon). We went out to the Mexican restaurant today and was only slightly tempted, but I held my own and ate fine.

Was wondering if I can join you guys. I really need to get my poor diet under control. I gained 25 pounds last year and really would like to get it off. About 7 years ago I lost 75 pounds and have kept if off...until last year. It seems after turning 40, it's just gotten a lot harder!

Sure, Jodi! We'd love to have you!

Everyone here is doing something different. I started this thread because *I* needed the accountability. I needed the support too.

Feel free to post whenever you want.

Jodi- So nice to have you join us. Do you have a plan of eating that works for you?

Bren- Good to see you girl. Isn't great that we can start healthy eating over any time of the day and don't have to wait till Monday morning. That's something I learned over the years and has saved me a lot of pounds.

Pen- Good to hear that you are back on track and doing well. You can always "fake it till you make it" acting like you love eating healthy and don't even crave the other stuff (even if you really do). That's what I did and finally I really starting loving what I did do, it just took some time. Now, I love all the benefits and wouldn't go back to eating the way I was...it was just too miserable and with all that weight gain...yuk!!! I don't ever want to go back there!

    hugs to all,
    Marie

Hey Pen, thanks for sharing this thread.

I have a milestone birthday this year and I'd love to get there a little lighter than I am now.

I'm researching recipes, but having to measure the fats I use will be a bit annoying. [}] Oh well, progress must be made. I know it is worth the effort.

Right now I don't have a plan that is working for me. In the past, I have been the most successful on WW Points or Core program or by following the the Body For Life eating program.

For now I just want to try cutting back on sugary, starchy foods. I may losely follow the WW Core program right now.

I'm just having a really hard time getting myself focused and cleaning up my diet. Clean eating had gotten to be a natural thing for me, then a few months ago I fell of the wagon and just haven't gotten my act together.

I really need to. My last blood workup at the doc's showed an elevated glucose level. Not enough for the doctor to act, but enough for him to give me a warning!

Hi, April!!!! Glad you joined us

Jodi, yes, you do need to get things going...I'm preaching to the choir here....I'm in the SAME boat! My glucose levels were up last time too....my dr had me do the 3 hr fasting thing and I'm pretty much considered pre-diabetic/insulin resistant.

I find that if I can cut out the sugar and more processed carbs, then I don't crave them (after a few days) and I'm good to go. When I did Core in 2004, I did not have any sugar from mid-Sept until Thanksgiving...I felt SO good! Then I was able to have JUST a little....it is when the "just a little" starts to happen every day or every other day, that it begins to take over (for me) and I'm a lost cause then until I can fully put the "brakes" on.

Feel free to post your menus or what you are eating or whatever will help you. I posted what I had been eating in some of the other threads and it helped to know I'd have to come here and let everyone know WHAT I'd been eating! LOL I'll do that with you if it will help.

Hey, Bren! When are you starting school back with the boys? We start again on Tues....I revamped just about my WHOLE schedule....

Marie, yep, I'm "faking it"...or like I've heard Dr. Phil say before "Act as if...." You act as if you ARE thin or you ARE wanting to exercise or you ARE wanting to eat healthy....doing the behavior then will be come a habit after awhile and you won't have to ACT, because you WILL be doing it and wanting to. I go through times (I think it is either seasonal or hormonal where I DEFINTELY have to act as if!).
