    Default Arthritis help

I'm feeling some pain in the joints of my fingers and worry that it might be arthritis. Who has taken supplements, etc. that have worked for you to get rid of this pain?

I've been doing T's finger/hand stretches, PBS & CRT, reflexology. Great for outside-in help. Supplements: Alfalfa, 6/day, MSM 2G/day, C-Comlex 3G/day, E-complex, 1+G/day, Udo's oil 1tsp/day + 1-2G each Evening primrose oil, Flaxseed oil & Fish oil, CalMag, D-Flame (NOW brand anti-arthritic), & less caffeine, flour, sugar, beef, no nitrites (all cold cuts, seasonings w/msg, etc), sulfites (wine...darn), & the nightshade family: tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, bell peppers, etc. Can do the yellow version of said vegie/fruits.

oooohhhh, and I absolutely LOVE pineapple!

Another good reason to have it.....to help with my arthritis, which has been giving me the blues these past couple of weeks.

Think I'll have some right now!

Have you heard of vinegar? Apple cider vinegar and honey , two tablespoons of each in a glass of water. The non filtered apple cider vinegar from the health food store ( braggs is a good brand).Drink this four times a day and the side effect is that you will loose weight ! You might have to keep this up for awhile even a year for some, but its a natural product and very healthy .It will also cure irritable bowel syndrome.

I second the fish oil - Omega-3 fatty acids are wonderfully anti-inflammatory. Avoid overdoing the "inflammatory" Omega-6 oils that are so prevalent in our food today - soy, safflower, sunflour, basically all the polyunsaturated "cooking" oils. Rather, cook with coconut or palm oil, or butter, use olive oil for dressings and marinades, and consume fatty fish like salmon, mackeral, or albacore if you don't take fish oils. But take the fish oil!

MSM is also lovely for the joints. If you don't like to take it in capsule form, a good MSM cream applied right on the joints gives relief. A brand I like is Ultra Botanicals. It's pricy, but it smells nice and absorbs like silk.

I would also recommend taking a strong broad-spectrum antioxidant and minerals. You may e-mail me for what I take; mine is pharmaceutical-grade and in therapeutic potencies.

    Best of luck to you!

    Helena

    Beverly-

Arthritis is an inflammatory response within the body--anything you do to reduce inflammation will help reduce the pain/swelling associated with any type of arthritis. I have had RA in several of my toes joints and fingers for a few years. Some mornings it was so painful I could hardly walk and if I had to go down stairs, I would end up in tears by the time I made it to the kitchen!

I personally take 12 tablets of alfalfa a day to help with the swelling (and I can tell when I don't!) and a regime of supplements that is very similar to the one gr8fisch outlined, except I also add incondroitin & glucosamine (a supplement which is essential for helping reverse and prevent further damage to joints). I am not so good about staying away from members of the nightshade family though, even though I feel so much better when I do. I just absolutely love tomatoes and can't imagine life without them!!! When I am extremely consistent with my supplements I have very little stiffness or pain. Within a couple of days of slacking off, it starts to creep back in.

The finger stretches always feel really good in the morning before I start doing to much (like trying to type or tie shoe laces for the kids).

    Hopefull some of this helps--
