    Default Another Cholesterol?

3 months ago my DH was told he had high cholesterol. It was 227. He had it checked again last week and it's 230. The doctor put him on cholesterol medicine already. I don't think 3 months was a long enough time to try to bring it down. And, he didn't try very hard at all. Besides that he is only 35 years old.

I told him that he should really try on his own first and then if it doesn't come down at all, fine. But, he doesn't agree. He says the he should listen to the doctor. We don't have the same view on doctors. He believes every thing they say and I tend to go for the natural way first.

    What do you guys think?

Tracy here is an arcticle I found on this subject:

    http://familydoctor.org/029.xml

It states after 6 months to 1 yr of being unable to lower it...

I am like you, stay away from Doctors, until my bout with strep throat last month, I had not taken a prescription medication in 4 1/2 years.

I don't like prescriptions generally, either. However, my DH is 38 and is on Lipitor. The doctor did give us 6 months to try to lower it with non-prescription actions. He started exercising more regularly (gym 2-3 AMs a week), changed his diet, took supplements. For him, it did not work. But I do believe a doctor should allow you the choice/chance to persue other avenues.
