    Default Organic & GM

I realize that just because it says "natural" or "organic" on the box doesn't necessarily mean it is a GM food. However, I have found two new items that I'd like opinion on as to whether teh can be considered a GM day breakfast food.

The first is Peace Cereal's Golden Hoeny Granola http://www.peacecereal.com/Products/Products.aspx#Prod3

The other is Fantastic's Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal http://www.fantasticfoods.com/script...product_id=103

Both have ingredients listings on the website. All of your thoughts and comments are appreciated!

While these are better choices than a box of Fruit Loops or Count Chocula, for my money they are still MM b/c the first one has rice flour, oat flour, barley malt syrup, and did you ever wonder what "natural flavor" is? It's preservatives...MM. The second one has Brown Rice Syrup (which sounds MM to me but I could be wrong) and Natural Flavors.

Teresa has actually recommended some GM cereals in the past. One of them is by Peace Cereal, the same company that makes one of the ones you've listed so maybe it's ok too. Compare ingredients and see. Anyway, for my money a bowl of slow cooked oatmeal is the way to go on those GM days but here are the cereals Teresa has recommended:

"1. SPELT FLAKES CEREAL by Arrowhead Mills is naturally sweetened with fruit juice and has a nutty taste. The spelt grain is great for people who are sensitive to wheat. It has a satisfying “crunch” and is great dry as well as with milk. I prefer it dry and usually carry a 1-cup portion in a zip lock bag for afternoon “munchies” or mid-morning snack if I had eggs for breakfast. Spelt Flakes are available at most large grocery stores or at health food stores. It is organically grown and processed. Arrowhead Mills is located in Hereford, Texas.

    2. MAPLE RAISIN CRISP by Peace Cereal (Golden Temple) is the best wheat free granola I have ever tasted. It is light, crunchy and easy to digest. This is one of 5 other granola blends; all are good. Maple Raisin Crisp is the granola that O blood types won’t gain weight with (I’m an O). On my carb days I usually start the day with a bowl of this cereal and another cup in the afternoon. I usually consume it dry but it is good with milk too. Maple Raisin Crisp is organically grown and processed. Golden Temple (Peace Cereal) is located in Eugene, OR. If you can’t find this cereal in your local health food store, you can call Special Tea Distributor at 1-800-964-4832. They can ship it direct to you. They also have a full catalogue available.

    3. Honey Puffed Kashi"

Ally. Thanks for your reply. I guess I got so excited that it was "whole" I didn't get to the natural flavoring
I shall look at the raisin crisp.
I'm just looking for easy breakfast. I figured if it was whoel oats it must be okay.

Ezekiel also makes some sprouted grains cereals. They have three or four flavors: Original, Golden Almond, and Raisin&Cinemon (sorry bad spelling there).

Since they are sprouted grains and sprouted grains are a vegetable; they are GM. I double checked with Lauren when I first found them.
