Why weighted shoes and T-Tapp team up so well
In the last few days I’ve been thinking about this and I think I finally figured it out.
T-Tapp is a rehabilitative approach to fitness. It puts the body back in linear alignment and postural alignment is fundamental. Walking is one of the most fundamental of movements and so it follows that an exercise method that reverses postural change to make the body more efficient in movement and a workout that uses walking which is fundamental would be a match made, literally, in heaven.
T-Tapp also uses compound muscle movement. In other words you get a tremendous bang for your buck. With traditional exercise programs you work one or maybe two areas of the body at one time. Because you have to work your way through the various muscle groups of the body and then also address aerobic training these workouts traditionally take an hour or more to be effective. With T-Tapp you are simultaneously addressing a multitude of muscles and all the while working your heart and lungs and so workouts can be shorter because less can be, and actually is much much more.
MetaTreks apply the concept of compound functional muscle resistance to the exercise we know as aerobic walking. Studies have shown that weight added to the bottom of the feet results in a substantial increase in calories burned over the number of calories burned when walking without added weight or with weight carried in the hands.
Weight added to the bottom of the feet also acts to tone the muscles of the legs, buttocks, lower back and abdominals AND gives you a wonderful stretch along the back of the lower body each time you swing your leg forward. When you consider all of these benefits you quickly see that weighted shoes really take walking to the next level. I like the fact that I can take a walk and really feel that runner’s high I get when I run but without the high impact. I also like the fact that I am getting both an aerobic and a resistive workout wrapped into one.
You may have felt in the past that it wasn’t worth walking if you only had 10 or 15 minutes but with the added benefits that weighted walks provide you can rest assured that it’s more than worth it. In fact a stealth walk where you simply wear your weighted shoes while doing chores or shopping may be the best deal going. (This is another of my favorite weighted shoe applications!)
With a combination of T-Tapp and weighted walking you can have a solid workout program no matter how tight your workout time constraints may be. In my opinion doing the Basic Workout Plus on one day and a weighted walk (even a stealth walk) the next can deliver as many if not more results than a traditional program performed for an hour a day. AND even better you’ll be more likely to be consistent because your workouts will be so time efficient. I’m not saying that there aren’t added benefits to doing the full T-Tapp workout but for the time it takes the Basic Workout plus is the best bargain going.
Anyway, those are a few of my random thoughts of late and why I’ve been so excited about the fact that so many more people can now afford weighted shoes. I really look forward to hearing everyone else’s experiences as they receive and begin to use their shoes.
