  • How much alfalfa for arthritic dog?

I remember Teresa answered my post about this but don't think she told me how much alfalfa to give my dog. He has arthritis in his back and it causes him to limp. He weighs about 56 pounds so what would be the dosage for him? Also, is the alfalfa at the health food store as good as Teresa's? I want to go ahead and get him on it as soon as possible.

    Hi Jill,

You should give him about half the daily doseage, so about 2-3 capsules. Don't feed him the whole capsule though. Open them up and mix them with his food.

Other brands of alfalfa are not of the same quality. You've probably heard about T-Tappers "trying" a generic brand and gaining weight within a week. I'm not sure what it would do to a dog, but we don't recommend it. For the Shaklee brand of alfalfa you would have to take 30 in comparison to our 6 to get the same effect.

    Hope this helps!

Can you tell what a dosage is? I have to take him to the vet tommorow and she wants to know how much a dosage is so she can figure out how much he should take?

An adult serving is 6 capsules per day. For a dog I would say 2-3 per day.

I will ask Teresa about alfalfa for cats. I would think it would be okay. Maybe one per day or half of one. I'll get back with you.
